I think you are simplifying the dual-citizenship issue. Some people should have checked but there are some that had no reason whatsoever to suspect they were dual nationals. One person's mother applied for italian citizenship  that applied to him without his knowledge or consent when he was a child. Xenophon's father was found to be a british citizen in extraordinary circumstances and none of them actually knew about it. Barnaby Joyce also had no reason to suspect this either.

I find it curious that with 7 people caught up in this that NONE are from Labor. I dont think it is even remotely plausible to think that no Labor MPs have the same problem when so many others do. But since Labor is the one investigating everyone else, perhaps it is time for Libs and Greens to investigate Labor.

It really is pitifully stupid that this has come about.

IT Aide To Wasserman Schultz Indicted

Imran Awan, a former IT aide to Florida Congresswoman and former Democratic National Committee chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, was indicted Thursday on four counts related to bank fraud.

The indictment, which includes Awan’s wife Hina Alvi, involves an alleged scheme to defraud the Congressional Federal Credit Union.

Awan and his wife are believed to have given false statements to the Congressional Federal Credit Union in order to receive home equity lines of credit.

The couple then sent almost $300,000 to people living in Pakistan.

The decision by a grand jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia comes about a month after Awan was apprehended by authorities at Dulles Airport near Washington while attempting to catch a plane to Pakistan, his country of origin.

It appears Awan and his wife made arrangements to leave the United States after being placed under a separate investigation by the FBI for various IT abuses, including equipment theft and double-billing. Both worked as highly paid IT aides for congressional Democrats.

Alvi, however, was successful in fleeing the country.

In March, she withdrew her children from school and boarded a plane to Qatar with no return ticket. Capitol police searched her at the airport and found $12,400 in her bags, but they were unable to stop her from leaving.

Awan began his IT work in Congress as an information technology director in 2004. He started working for Shultz in 2005.

Not long after Awan began working for Shultz, four of his relatives appeared on the payroll of other Democratic lawmakers at unusually high wages. The whole family reportedly took in around $4 million in taxpayer-funded salaries since 2009.

While working on Capitol Hill, Awan and his family had exclusive access to emails and other information of many members of Congress.

However, they were all banned from the Capitol network in February after authorities revealed they were under investigation for theft and IT abuses.

Unlike other Democratic members of Congress who promptly fired Awan upon learning about the investigation, Shultz refused to terminate him.

Shultz took unprecedented steps to allow Awan to remain on her staff payroll, claiming he was the victim of anti-Muslim bigotry.

The Florida Democrat at one point refused to hand over to authorities a laptop pertaining to the case. She finally allowed police to scan the computer after months of stonewalling.

Shultz finally fired Awan after he was arrested in July attempting to flee the country.

Dem House campaign arm breaks record with $30 million in online donations

House Democrats' campaign arm raised $30 million in online donations so far this year, breaking their previous online fundraising haul of $20 million.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) reached the earlier $20 million mark in online donations last May, which represented more than what the committee raised for the whole of 2015.

The committee raised a total of $19.7 million online in 2015.

“The fact that we’re smashing through online fundraising records is a reflection of the groundswell of early support and energy behind House Democrats with the House in play in 2018," DCCC spokesman Tyler Law said in a statement to the Hill on Monday.

"The massive growth in our base of grass-roots donors will continue to benefit our committee and our candidates throughout the entire cycle," he continued.

News of the record comes after it was reported the DCCC raised twice as much as its Republican counterpart, the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC), did in July.

DCCC brought in $6.3 million last month, while the NRCC raised $3.8 million.

The DCCC's high numbers come as a welcome sign as Democrats work to take back the House in the 2018 midterm elections.

Democrats need to take at least 24 seats in order to have a majority in the lower chamber.

Clinton paid aide Huma Abedin nearly $65G from campaign funds since defeat

Failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has paid Huma Abedin nearly $65,000 from her campaign funds since her November election defeat, Federal Election Commission filings show.

Records show Abedin, Clinton's longtime friend and aide who served as the vice chair of the campaign, has been paid $64,415.10 in salary from Hillary for America, Clinton's campaign committee, since mid-November.

From mid-November to the end of March, Abedin was paid $52,180.65 from Hillary for America. From the beginning of April until the end of June, Abedin was given another $12,234.45 from Clinton's campaign committee.

Abedin is not the only individual who is still receiving payments from Clinton's campaign.

Nick Merrill, Hillary's former press secretary, was still receiving checks from the campaign as of late June, the end point for the latest available figures.

Robert Russo, who was the director of correspondence and briefing for the campaign, now carries the same job title in the Office of Hillary Clinton and is still being compensated from Clinton's campaign committee, as are a number of other staffers.

Clinton has also sent $800,000 from her campaign funds to Onward Together, a "resistance" group that she launched earlier this year, the Washington Free Beacon previously reported.

The FBI is beginning an investigation into whether several Pakistani-American IT staffers employed by Congressional Democrats, most notably Debbie Wasserman Schultz, were selling sensitive government data to hostile foreign governments, such as Russia or Pakistan.

This is the one huge scandal in Washington that many mainstream media sources just refuse to talk about. It gets complicated, so let’s break it down:

A 2016 internal investigation shows that hundreds of thousands of dollars in government property had been stolen from Congressional computer systems. The main suspects were five IT works within certain Democratic Congressional offices.
The House inspector general conducted an investigation and recommended that the Capitol Police conduct a criminal probe in October. During this investigation, data was found to have been removed from government networks and placed on offsite servers, compromising up to 80 offices.
The IT workers did not produce the missing tech for investigators, and were fired in February 2017. All except for the alleged “ringleader” Imran Awan.
Former DNC chief Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz kept Awan on her staff until he was arrested last month for unrelated bank fraud charges.
The five staffers were paid over $4 million over their decade of work. Many, which included Awan, his wife, two relatives, and a friend, had little IT experience. Awans brother was even convicted of a DWI one month before being hired.

Wasserman Schultz, for her part, has defended Awan, saying he was only “transferring data outside the secure network, which I think amounted to use of apps that the House didn’t find compliant with our security requirements.” She has also suggested that the investigation of Awan was due to “racial and ethnic profiling.”

This story gets fishier and fishier. The new FBI investigation is more evidence that Awan and his crew were up to something, and the MSM’s reluctance to cover this story is all the more strange.
