http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/news/nsw/manhunt-for-teens-following-queanbeyan...COUNTER-terrorism police have been brought in to investigate the murder of a Queanbeyan service station worker after what appears to be the letters “IS” were written in blood on the store’s window.
Deputy Police Commissioner Catherine Burn said there was enough evidence to suspect one of the boys in custody over a bloody overnight rampage — including the stabbing death of 29-year-old service station attendant Zeeshan Akbar — “may be related to terrorism”.
“That information comes from physical evidence at the scene,” Ms Burn said this afternoon.
“This investigation is in its infancy. We are looking at a number of other incidents involving an attempted robbery at a bottle shop in the ACT, at attack on a homeless man in Queanbeyan and later an attack where a man was stabbed and his vehicle stolen.”
Earlier, senior police sources said investigations were trying to determine whether the two boys were genuinely motivated by the terror group Islamic State.
“The teenagers went on a violent crime spree but we think one of the violent crimes at the servo has the hallmarks of an IS inspired terrorist act,” said a senior police source.

Meanwhile social media tributes are beginning to flow for Mr Akbar from friends and shocked members of the community.
“Very humble and kind person,” wrote Sukhjeet Singh.
“This is so bad! All the staff down there are so lovely,” posted Felicity Hourigan.
Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull also sent his condolences to Mr Akbar’s family, as well as his prayers and best wishes to two other stabbing victims involved in the rampage.
“Shockingly you will have seen reports that two juvenile males … are in custody following the alleged murder of a 29-year-old man overnight,” he said.
“Our condolences go to the family of the victim. And we send our prayers and best wishes to the two other victims.
“I can say the circumstances have raised sufficient concern to warrant the involvement of the Joint Count Terrorism Team.
“The involvement in this crime of two males, two youths, teenager, is a shocking matter and one that underlines many of the concerns we have raised in this field.”
Mr Akbar was found with stab wounds at the service station before midnight last night by a fellow employee at the Caltex service station on Bungendore Rd, Queanbeyan.
He died at the scene about 11.45pm.
Mr Turnbull said he had discussed the rampage with Australian Federal Police Commissioner Andrew Colvin before the anti-terror task force stepped in.
NSW Joint Counter-Terrorism Team officers were today trawling social media pages belonging to the arrested teens — aged 15 and 16 — for evidence of extreme views.
They were also investigating family members over claims the boys may have been radicalised.
