The Earths been around for @4.5 billion years. Has there been three or four major ice ages?  Before the oceans the Earth was a molten ball of sulphur. A giant, tsunami-causing comet killed off the dinosaurs. At one stage the Earth was covered in ice. Of those 4.5 billion years you focus on  evidence from weather-records from the last 150 years to suggest the Earth's atmosphere is heating. Apologies; permafrost and tree rings. Science is still in debate about the effect of solar activity. The world's agricultural bodies all agree warming on it's  own is good for food production which makes sense given that the three staples all flourish in hot conditions. Human kind is trashing the Earth; no question. However, CO2 levels doesn't make the top ten of my ecological concerns.

Both C3 plants and C4 plants evolved when CO2 was much higher. That they have been able to survive is a tribute to their toughness.

CO2 levels matter nothing to deniers. See you don’t know any scientists after all.

The CO2/NH4 levels are rising and warming the world. The temperature rise is too rapid for plants to evolve to meet the new conditions.

Why do you talk so much crap, it is undignified I would have thought.

Nobody repeat this, okay?

I agree with Hammer.

Yes, Gregory, you are a denier. You have no explanation for AGW either.

AGW is a robust theory with many streams of evidence supporting it.

I don't think you understand what AGW is.

I have no explanations for unicorns either.

Capiche?

Whatever. AGW has frightening implications, I understand that.

Are the deniers the opposite to AGW/Climate Change shills?

What is a climate change shill? Are you suggesting there is a corporate benefactor, a "greenie" plot? [/quote]

No not a greenie plot per se but AGW/Climate scientists grovelling for funds from the public purse, supplied by govts that fits the greenie agenda.

What?

You don't believe that there has been plenty of corporate or bought science?

Sure.

I agree with that.

A few problems there, though.

1. We don't know if AGW is real.

2. If it is, there is absolutely nothing (and I can't stress that enough - NOTHING) that we can do to reverse it.

My advice: open a bottle of wine, listen to some Zappa, and chill out.

You ain't gonna save the world.

Plants survive on CO2  ... they convert it to oxygen

we need oxygen in our atmosphere to breathe

most plants usually thrive in warmer conditions

hence the biggest & most prolific growth of forsts/rainforests/jungles

are in the warmest areas around the equator

They love warm

What is of more concern is the rate that the lungs of the world(eg. the Amazon & Borneo) are being destroyed by land clearing.

How about you focus on that?

What is undignified are your assertions without benefit of peer-reviewed papers.

Where is the peer-reviewed paper that proves that the warming is anything other than natural. Not claims that it is too fast to be natural; proof.

Seeing as C3 and C4 plants evolved when CO2 levels were much higher, why should they not thrive? Wink

See where Greenpeace is being sued for defamation and false claims?

"There’s been an interesting twist of events involving Greenpeace, one of the major groups pushing the failing #ExxonKnew campaign: They’ve been sued by Resolute, a Canadian forest-products company, for defamation and false claims about the company’s operations."

A funny thing happened when Greenpeace and allies were forced to account for their claims in court. They started changing their tune. Their condemnations of our forestry practices “do not hew to strict literalism or scientific precision,” as they concede in their latest legal filings. Their accusations against Resolute were instead “hyperbole,” “heated rhetoric,” and “non-verifiable statements of subjective opinion” that should not be taken “literally” or expose them to any legal liability. These are sober admissions after years of irresponsible attacks. "

How bizarre.

Yup, land clearing means more CO2 is emitted and less plant matter is available to “fix” CO2.
