Not that it matters, but you do know he's a homosexual, don't you Sprinty?

Your heroes seem to be homosexuals, and alleged child rapists.

Oh dear.

You have an interesting idea about what 'destroyed' means. SPicer has been massacred every time he gets up to speak/lie for Trump.

In all fairness, props to Spicer.

The man has to get up and regurgitate the mess coming from the top. Day in and day out.

A lesser man would have thrown in the towel by now.

You can almost see it in his eyes "I don't believe this bulls.hit"

The Press Secretary job is the most harrowing one. One slip or stray word and goodbye.

If he had a conscience he would quit and write a book.  If not, he has no job after TRump.

Indeed they should. Kelly Anne Conway could do well at this job. Still, Spicer had more party cache. Mr Trump liked his military experience.

Anyway, when Trump bans press briefings, the White House won't need any of them.

Sure, but this alone says much about the administration. If their response to questions from a free press is to lie and evade, this is news. If their take on open and transparent government is to obfuscare and cover their tracks, this says a lot about an administration that claimed to be taking government back to the people.

The whole point of press briefings is the president's response to tough questions. If the Trump administration decides to go ahead with written press releases and appearing only on sympathetic media like Fox and Friends, this effectively ends any semblance of government accountability.

I agree, but it is also true that they have never done that. They have lied, obsfucated and denied provable facts. Losing the press briefings would change nothing which is the point I was making. Spicer and co are so bad at this that losing them would not matter.

I agree with your point. My point is their denial of proven facts is most newsworthy, and it's good to see Spicer face the press and have to stutter through it.

It was also newsworthy to see Trump leave his own press opportunity/executive order as soon as the press started asking questions. The executive order?

It stayed on the Oval Office desk, unsigned.

So much for making Amerika great again, but that's the point. Trump's lies have gotten the better of him. They're on show for all the world to see, and the media deserves every chance it can get to hold the mirror up to nature, as it were.

of course the Press Briefings should remain.  My point is that truth, honesty and accuracy are not damaged by ending them nor enhanced by keeping them. There are, at best, entertainment.

Keep the press briefings, just dont admit untrustworthy purveyors of news.

Theres nothing sacred about "mainstream" media outlets, no reason why your news has to come through corporate channels.  Calling it  a "free press" must be a joke.

Who are the "untrustworthy" ones and what is the selection criteria?

Why would I come up with selection criteria?

If i was paid to do so, it wouldnt be hard, but a bit of a waste of time otherwise, wouldnt you say?

Well, you ought to because you introduced the term 'untrustworthy' into the discussion.

I think you know you are heading for a corner.

Yes, Honky, which media outlets are untrustworthy?

I'm curious too.

Honky wont tell you his criteria because we both know is that it is simply if it supports HIS political beliefs and agenda. He loves Fox News too - except when it criticises Trump.

Do you think he'd suggest that the Washington Post - the paper that exposed Watergate - should be banned from press briefings?

How about the Guardian - the paper that exposed Bush and Obama through the Snowdon files?

Which news agencies are owed a seat?

Would you say certain media corporations are...

"Too big to fail"?

I'm not sure, Honky. I believe an independent media council authorises them after they've been checked out and placed on a waiting list.

But we're curious about your criteria. Are you suggesting investigative journalism with editorial staff and fact-checking is dubious, but the sort of YouTube polemics posted by Bogey and the Light are legit?

Please explain.

It's not at all moving the posts.

This is the central question.

In fact, it made up the bulk of my post that you responded to.  Was it too subtle?

They're not too big to be sued, Honky, which is generally what happens when they say things Mr Trump doesn't like.

How many has he sued since he ran for president, do you think?

Oh, come on Mr Pipes!  You changed this:

You people spend more time making up silly things to say I believe, than saying what you believe.

Is Infowars one of your preferred news sites, Honky? You haven't said.

Quote:
Though there are somewhat stricter standards for those with permanent "hard" passes, almost anyone can get a temporary day pass (which is the kind Corsi appears to have obtained) allowing them into the room, and then get another of those passes and another and so on indefinitely. There's a long history of reporters coming in from out of left field, representing small or even possibly non-existent outlets. Some of them have been regular presences in White House briefings for years.
