Trump to close the EPA
Feb 24th, 2017 at 8:59am

Especially for Lee who wanted to claim that Trump wasnt going to close the EPA I present for your amusement the following bill to TERMINATE THE EPA by dec 31 2018

https://www.congress.gov/bill/115th-congress/house-bill/861/text

So that's the end of environmental protection in the USA. Welcome to a brave new Trump-world of poor polluted water, dirty air and oil spills.

it is more insane than almost anything else he has done. every country the world over has an EPA and it is part of the reason we have clean air and clean water and responsible environmental policies. in the 1970s, we were afraid that choking air pollution would kill us all and now... the air is clean.

Anyone who votes for this should be removed from office.

Great......if it's true......The EPA is well past it's 'Abuse By Date' !!!

First thing to take a tumble will be America's withdrawal from all that farcical
"Climate Change Hysteria"
.....the biggest con on the World's Leading Economic Powers  .....
Glad to see it if the EPA dies a slow & horrible death!
    ...

IMHO though, some form of EPA will probably stay, but it's powers will be severely curtailed, & the days will be long gone when a Multi-Million Dollar project is halted, & thousands of jobs are lost because of the possibility of some insect being made extinct!!  Grin Grin Grin

And when industry poisons a river?  thats right. nobody will know until people start dying

And when oil spills all over pristine land who will clean it up or even consider that a priority?  NOBODY

And when groundwater is drawn down so severely that roads sink and buildings tilt in the CBD (as in bangkok) what do you do?

The EPA and bodies like it world-wide are why we still have a clean and viable biosphere.

You of course, care nothing about that or even the issues. all you do is support Trump. If Trump suggested tripling the size of the EPA you'd be here applauding it.

you are a sycophant without a brain or an individual opinion.

With no EPA, and companies doing whatever they can you'd essentially have Bhopal disasters all over the place in the US.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bhopal_disaster

And if you say well Bhopal is in India,

try Love Canal on for size

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Love_Canal

The EPA does far more than just climate change stuff.

But then again industrial pollution explains Panther easily.

I thought he meant Big Ag.

But if he meant Pharma its idiotic in two levels.

1. The spelling
2. The FDA deals with pharmaceuticals not really the EPAs mandate

Oh, I think for myself awrite, but when it comes to the American Administration, & a combined American will, nothing we here in Australia do can affect the outcome in the slightest. We hardly show up on their radar, if at all!

To think otherwise is simply ludicrous.   ...

And more importantly job creation, without some needless restrictions. Not everything the EPA has done is a problem, but they've done quite a bit to needlessly regulate.  Wink

But wouldn't you think it appropriate that if there was a high risk of environmental damage from such a pipeline that it should be halted?

Well, if you read about the Keystone Pipeline, it was purely political.....nothing to do with the environment.....If I recall correctly, the independent studies proved that......

Nope. The individual states have there own EPA's. Which have a good history. That being said there is still a role for a National EPA to control relevant overarching legislation.

...............It could not look more grave, more straightforwardly destructive. Below a simple title—H. R. 861, A BILL TO TERMINATE THE EPA—runs the staggering text:

The Environmental Protection Agency shall terminate on December 31, 2018

Here lies the illustrious EPA: established in 1970 by President Richard Milhous Nixon, strengthened by the Supreme Court and George H. W. Bush, and murdered in the first month of the Trump administration. And the man who did the deed is Matt Gaetz, a 34-year-old Republican who represents Florida’s 1st district. He has been in Congress for all of a month. The blood of the air itself is on his hands. (Don’t question that metaphor.)

H. R. 861 is real—its page on Congress.gov has gone viral over the past few weeks—but the reality that it proposes to enact will not arrive any time soon. This Congress will almost certainly not terminate the EPA, and, even if it does, H. R. 861 is not the legislative blade it will wield. H. R. 861 is a classic piece of stunt legislation: It is short, punchy, without co-sponsors, and introduced by a novice legislator. Gaetz may accomplish nothing else of note this year, but he can truthfully tell his constituents that he proposed terminating the EPA.........

Chuck Gaetz out of the US Govt.

He is wasting other peoples time being there.

And yet, Trump proposed the exact same thing. You think he will have a sponsor rather soon?

Especially for Lee who wanted to claim that Trump wasnt going to close the EPA I present for your amusement the following bill to TERMINATE THE EPA by dec 31 2018

Ok. You must remember we were talking about a youtube video that said he was going to cut PARTS of the EPA.

I think it is a bad idea to delete it.

So that's the end of environmental protection in the USA.

Nope. The individual states have there own EPA's. Which have a good history. That being said there is still a role for a National EPA to control relevant overarching legislation.

That's your idea of accepting I was right and you were wrong. I accept your apology.

You have now proven you have no concept of context. You white flag is accepted.

It's PHARMA, you illiterate retard.

I thought he meant Big Ag.

But if he meant Pharma its idiotic in two levels.

1. The spelling
2. The FDA deals with pharmaceuticals not really the EPAs mandate

do you even know what the EPA do you halfwit?

so your only argument is the way something is spelt and the other you have no idea about...

Exactly. It will see a transfer of air pollution from Beijing to Cleveland, Ohio.

Something to be grateful for, eh? The Chinks will finally be able to leave their apartments without their gas masks.

The US is a litigious society, anyone polluting may be held to account via the civil courts.

OK I am grasping at straws here.

True, Mike, once their kids start dying of cancer, they can launch a class action.

That could work.

OR you could have an EPA that stops it happening in the first place.  Makes more sense, right?

I'm not so sure about that, Longy. Getting rid of the EPA would let people make more mess and not have to clean it up.

Mr Trump wants to make Amerika great again, no?

Why do I get the feeling I am getting abuse for suggesting some kind of a solution for a problem.

Its not my idea to get rid of the EPA!

Well, it's a good idea, Mike, you have to admit. Once Mr Trump gets rid of the EPA, he can go for all those other troublemakers. The media's first, the intelligence agencies are next, followed closely by the courts. And yes, he'll probably go for congress and the senate before this term's up.

We will make Amerika great again, no?
