"There will be no carbon tax under a government I lead", said Julia Gillard. Then, when she won office by the slimmest of margins and only with the help of the Greens, she introduced a carbon tax. You, like the ALP, have no credibility on this topic.

Really? That's the best you can do? He made some promises based on information released by Labor pre-election that later turned out to be completely unrelated to the truth and was unable, therefore, to follow through with his promises. That doesn't make him a liar. It makes him a victim of Labor's lies and incompetence. Not that I'd expect you to understand, let alone agree.

Then why did he say the budget would not be used as an excuse to break promises?

Quote:
REPORTER: “The condition of the budget will not be an excuse for breaking promises?”

TONY ABBOTT: “Exactly right. We will keep the commitments that we make. All of the commitments that we make will be commitments that are carefully costed.”

–Joint press conference, Colo Heights, NSW, 13 August 2013

I dont like the idea of a senate.

a leader, if he is to be effective, just gets on his grind,
does what he thinks is best,
doesnt apologise,
takes responsibility for the success or failure of his actions,
does not seek to shift blame,
doesnt need to 'manage an impression"
doesnt really care if his actions are popular or not
has the best interests of those he leads at heart, and will be tough with them if he has to.

a 'senate' stops this efficient process and does not allow a leader to lead.

qld parliament  functions quite well without a senate and we take the good with the bad, but at least there is no paralysis.

Nah - Mal isn't a leader - he is an anarcho-syndicalist collective spokesperson using the law as a continuation of class war by other means, nothing more.  Our politicians don't 'lead' and have no concept of it - they are merely mouth-pieces for their Party and paid-up supporters, which is precisely why we need a Senate to keep them in line.

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

Greens leader Bob Brown says the minor party was right to block former Labor prime minister Kevin Rudd's emissions trading scheme (ETS) because Julia Gillard's carbon tax is "so much better".

The lower house of parliament on Wednesday passed the Gillard government's carbon price regime, and it's expected to sail through the Senate by November 21 with Greens support.

Senator Brown says the climate debate's been tough, but the Greens was right to block Mr Rudd's scheme to reduce carbon pollution in 2009.

"There's so much more in this legislation - it's certainly been worth it," he told reporters in Canberra.

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

What has that got to do with Abbott trashing Labor's mandate, a policy they themselves took to the 2007 election....Lets also not forget Abbott trashed the policy once he was PM and ensured Australia's energy future would be always tainted by climate change denialists like Turnbull!!!

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I do forget

show me the link...

you have proof of course that rudds ETS would have stopped CLIMATE CHANGE>. Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin Grin

Climate change is a cumulative effect based on total output not emissions from one source or country...No ETS will stop climate change without collaborative action....Tell me how the Coalitions policy will stop climate change Einstein???

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

hahahaha they dont want to STOP CLIMATE CHANGE>>..its what keep the world going...

us skeptics call us names as you will Roll Eyes

think CLIMATE CHANGE has been with us since the globe was born..

sorry dont know how many millions of years ago..

but we believe its been there since day one..

some  idiots think we have to stop it... Cheesy

and the only way to do that is...

drum roll please!!!!

thats right the usual way the left think

throw MONEY AT IT....

in this case give it to someone somewhere!!!!!!

millions year in year out..

to do what exactly Roll Eyes we are never fully informed so far

and I believe its been happening since Copenhagen...

not a thing has changed..

well not with the CLIMATE CHANGING anyway..

yep more Ice has melted yep more volcanoes are exploding

yep there seems to be more earthquakes....

not sure what that has to do with climate change......

but somehow I am not convinced humans have a lot to do with it to be honest...

Grin Grin Grin Grin

good old mother nature... says try me.... Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

throw what ever you have at me...see if I care..

yes like most things

I have always said we need to clean our act up..

yes our waterways are filthy... [globally]..

yes yes yes we can do better......and yes yes yes I believe we are....its slow I agree.... but then thats progress...

if it happened overnight we couldnt cope with it..

that may not be Einsteins theory  but it is mine...

I believe in Mother Nature... and I have no intentions of believing  for one minute we can fight her..

we can and should be more responsible for our actions....

for instance dont build houses in the bush surrounded by exploding trees...

....
dont build towns under a volcano...or a dam....

now we watch as  HUGE DAM is about to do whatever they do when they spring a leak...

we cannot determine rainfall... only estimate...

how would you be if your wife estimated the dinner is cooked.. Roll Eyes...and almost always got it wrong??>.

I love scientists we seem to only hear from them about 20 years after they have made life changing statements...

when they usually claim they got it wrong.. or only half right at best... Sad

do I follow the rules spelt out by all this PANIC?..

yes I do...

do I believe its making the slightest difference..

no I dont...

do I pretend to be einstein?.. I dont think so...its just an opinion..

blame Tony for whatever if it makes you feel better.......I am sure its all his fault..

The Senate, however, should be a house of the people to oversee political parties - and should not be controlled by a party.
