Centrelink Misery, Public Servants Set To Strike

More Centrelink misery with public servants to strike again

Sydney Morning Herald
February 6, 2017

Millions of Centrelink clients around Australia are set for more misery as public servants at the welfare agency prepare for more strike action in the coming days.

Centrelink, Medicare and Child Support workers at the Department of Human Services will strike on six days between February 15 and February 24.

But the department's main workplace union, the CPSU, says public servants trying to resolve disputes caused by Centrelink's controversial "robo-debt" recovery policy will not be walking off the job.

The welfare agency has been embroiled in controversy since late 2016 over its pursuit of "debts" raised by an error-prone automated data-matching system with the federal opposition, the Greens, welfare groups and other organisations calling for the program's suspension.

But the robo-debt controversy has played out against a background of a marathon industrial dispute at the department which has raged since 2014, with workers resisting a push to impose a hardline Abbott-government industrial relations policy.

The fresh wave of industrial action is the latest attempt from the union to try to wring a better offer from the department with workers to take micro-strikes, of 30 minutes, throughout the working day in a bid to make life as difficult as possible for their bosses.

CPSU National Secretary Nadine Flood says the action is in response to the "continuing damage caused by senior management and the Turnbull Government, including through the stalled enterprise bargaining process and the Centrelink robo-debt crisis."   Sad

"The Turnbull Government has rightly been condemned over the Centrelink automated debt debacle, but the problems go far deeper in the Department of Human Services because of years of budget cuts and the Government's harsh and illogical public sector bargaining policy," the union leader said.

"There are 34,000 hardworking Medicare, Centrelink and Child Support staff who've gone more than three years without a pay rise as they've fought for a new enterprise agreement.

"Budget cuts and the 5,000 jobs that have been slashed from this agency also mean these workers are finding it more and more difficult to provide the quality services that the Australian public needs and deserves."   Sad

Human Services has been contacted for comment.

Centrelink and misery are 2 words that should be linked.

centrelink , represents a flaw in modern groupthink.

It represents the idea that you can "take" and that if you just get to "take enough" you will achieve happiness.

This is simply wrong.

You "contribute" and when you "contribute enough" you will achieve happiness.

Taking is lower consciousness.

you cannot and will not ever have enough by taking. your cup will never runneth over.

whether you are trying to take an extra few dollars from centrelink or whether you are Gina Rhinehart trying to take a few more million by wrecking the environment, taking is always destined to fail.

because when you take , you have to tell yourself, "i dont have enough, i am not enough" and you build a highway of synaptic pathways to unhappiness. now even if you get something you will be unhappy (because your brain is now wired for scarcity).

if you are in a queue at centrelink, do some gratitude training. as you walk to centrelink, be grateful for the clean air, be grateful you dont live in a war zone, be grateful for the air conditioning, smile at every taxpayer who walks past you and say "thank you man, thank you for looking out for me", shake the hands of the person who serves you at centrelink, when you leave, on your walk home, pick up any litter you see as an act of gratitude. Once you get into the mode of contribution, your life will turn around. When you get home , be very thankful for electricity, be thankful for your free tv, be thankful for running water . be thankful you dont have cancer

no more will you see whiteknights  Cry Cry Cry Cry.
now you can get into an upward spiral

Oh Aqua U have shattered the Lefties fond feelings towards their unsustainable unreal Socialist wonder world.

Shorty and his corrupt Commo unions are getting stuck into the Welfare purge and trying to stuff it all up.

This is all sniveling Shorty knows - union corruption and disruption.

Gee the Lefties are very sensitive to this Welfare stuff.

Can't imagine what good hurling defamatory abuse at another poster is going to do but then the disturbed mind of a Socialist indoctrinated Lefty moves in mysterious ways.

Maybe I have scored some more devoted trolls that follow me around like lost puppies. These trolls are real STATUS symbols reflecting how important a poster really is. Notice how no trolls follow the Lefties around.

For years Centrelink staff haven't been doing their jobs properly, with the result that sinkholes of permanent unemployment dole-cheque areas in Melbourne and Sydney have been identified as Muslim enclaves like South West Sydney - all because the staff have been afraid to carry out the prescribed procedures for gradual termination of unemployment benefits due to 'clients' not responding to Centrelink directions.

There needs to be sackings - and then a culture change within the department.

Too many cozy arrangements have been going on between Muslim staff and their Muslim 'clients'.

How the hell is it that both here and in the UK whenever a Muslim is up on charges of supporting terrorism it's soon discovered that he and his large family have been languishing on the dole for 20 years and longer while being perfectly fit to work?

Abdul Nacer Benbrika
Mahmoud Habib
Anjem Choudary

To name just three.

The Centrelink staffers responsible for cooperating with this long-term swindling should be in jail with their 'clients', but of course this won't happen while we have girly-men in government instead of the likes of Donald Trump.

Dear O dear O dear .... what do we have here ... ?

link.

And Western leaders STILL want to keep the Muslim immigration and refugees annual influx open.

" .... quality services .... "    Grin Grin Grin

Australia's Muslims are extremely happy with the quality of the services they've been receiving. In fact, these services are so goddamned good that the call went out to their extended families and friends in the Middle East to come on over and enjoy the spoils of a country that is governed by idiots and fools.

It would be an almost impossible job to do , within the current frame of how they are expected to deal with clients.

if you are always dealing with people in "low vibration energy", who are just trying to 'cope" and who dont have it within them to "contribute', then you as a public servant will be sucked down into that frame.

we see how "high vibration energy" fuels an upward spiral....  a group of workers in a vibrant industry with passion and ambition can feed off this energy and buzz off each other.

but this is very hard when everyone is complaining and down and in a durrr state.

this is surely obvious to people....the staff at centrelink need to be unleashed to offer a positive and dynamic style of "tough love'

Work for the dole is a marvellous opportunity to upskill, socialise and contribute.
but to a person in low vibration energy, its seen as punishment.

you can see a running group or a group of cyclists out riding and they are all buzzing off the energy.
if you told a customer at centrelink to go jog around the block or do a 50 km bike ride, he would see this as punishment...nothing can change for these people until they see the folly of remaining in taker mode

Your list is too short ... what about the endless red tape, the Kafkaesque bureaucracy, the dishonest employers exploiting their workers and foreigners flooding into the country on work visas with no checking?
