Of the 7 muslim countries whose citizens are now banned (including current legitimate visa holders), massive surprise [/sarc off] Saudi Arabia is left off the list. This is despite the fact that it is Jihad central and the heart of the backward Salafist ideology that drives Islamic terrorism. One is instantly reminded of the immediate aftermath of 9/11, when despite the fact that 15 of the 19 hijackers were Saudi citizens, no action was taken against this terrorist supporting nation, and bin Laden's own family was quietly whisked out of the US, despite the FBI's perfectly understandable desire to question them.

Trump is just confirming that he is the establishment shrill I always said he was. The establishment won't touch Saudi Arabia because they are firmly in their pocket financially. Trump is just dutifully playing along to this same song sheet - because he is a charlatan, who has no interest in shaking up the establishment like he always claims. He is the establishment, just doing more establishment stuff.

In defense of the Saudi (which I don't do very often) being able to travel to the USA, KSA has a very effective security service which cooperates with the USA, so any worrisome Saudis will probably be flagged on entry to USA.

People from failed states are a total mystery.

Bingo.

Correct answer.

yes, I saw how effective they were against the perpetrators of 9/11  Grin Grin

Actually....if the CIA had shared the info it got from the Saudi intelligence with the FBI, 9/11 probably wouldn't have happened.

Same goes for some of the other countries. At least they have functioning security services that can share info.

The inter-agency intel sharing protocols have been changed since 9/11, John.

Think hard, John. If US customs want to run a check on someone from Pakistan, KSA is can be easily done.

The counties listed in the ban, not so easily.

Are you trying to suggest that this is only because of and in response to just 9/11?
