I support an Australian Republic, but as any Australian, Kiwi (and Canadian) knows, the British Monarch as the head of state reigns at the pleasure of the people...

I am just trying hard to imagine US having foreign King as our head of state. It's been 250 years since then.
Had colonial Americans understood the constitutional role of the Monarch, there may not have been a need for a revolution...
But then again, had Alexander Wedderburn not so roundly ridiculed and humiliated Benjamin Franklin, who was not initially a revolutionary (and whose son was the British Governor of New Jersey), Franklin would not have turned against the Crown the first place...
How many school kids would be alive today without the people's right to bear arms?
