Biggest ever inaugural crowd? No, but...

Whilst crowd numbers really shouldn't matter that much... I mean, if a President-elect, during the 60 days between election and inauguration, about-faces on promises and threatens austerity, he/she would likely not get a big crowd either (regardless of whether austerity ultimately saves or would likely save the economy), what's important to note here is Trump's need to believe it was not, just a large crowd, but (as his press secretary put it) "the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period, both in person and around the globe"...

Said Trump: "It looked like a million-and-a-half people ... it went all the way back to the Washington Monument," Mr Trump said, adding that the media had been caught out and would "pay a big price".

For narcissist watchers... That's a 'learning moment' right there!

Without the distraction of a major national disaster or war, Trump's superlative-laced word-salad self-eulogies will only get funnier in their weirdness...

Remembering, though, that 9/11 morphed Bush from a comically cool archetypical Texan (at least from a foreigner's perspective) into a dangerously incompetent wartime President whose parody character would not be out of place among the cast of 'Dr Strangelove'...
