Grin Grin Grin

Good one.

I don't know if this is true -

if a burglar injures themself on your property they
can claim money from you.

It is true,      .....particularly if   YOU   intentionally injured them, trying to protect yourself, or those you love, or your property.

Whereas, if they die, while up to no good while on your property......

You will likely have to explain why that happened, in a court of law.

It can be tricky.

Of course, if you live semi-rural,       .....we just 'disappear' those who die, while trying to harm us.

Wink          .....of course i'm just kidding.                Smiley                Smiley

Yes it's not like the USA here -

we have only a limited right of self defense &
even if you win the court case you'll lose your house in legal fees.
It's not fair.

You are wrong. You are entitled to self-defence but it must be APPROPRIATE response. If someone throws a book at you, you cannot shoot him. If he enters your house, you cannot throw a grenade at him.  If someone attacks you and has what you believe to be the desire and ability to kill you then you ARE entitled to use deadly force. Most countries have the same definition of self-defence which is why the USA has more gun deaths than most of the western world put together.

Doesn't even have to be that. If a person enters my residence by illegal means, chances are high they are going to receive a bullet in their head. No conversation, no argument, no bargaining.

Now if you have not seen the intruder and are behind a locked bedroom door, you can tell them to clear off, you have a shotgun. If they attempt to open the door, because you have not seen whether they are armed or unarmed, you can shoot through the door.

Got stats for the highlighted section?

In military parlance 'you are fitted for, but not with'.

So you are indeed allowed to protect your self against armed intruders who are hell bent on doing harm to you and your family. But you will not be allowed to facilitate that protection with anything more significant than a broom handle.

If you are a a licenced gun owner, there is little to no chance you will be able to do anything significant before you are overcome by your intruders. And every single criminal knows they are fully protected from harm by the government & police.

The government thrives on a fearful populace, much easier to manipulate and control.

The age of political correctness has swallowed Australia up. Defending you home, family or your person is pursuant to the level of threat. However, if a big knife suddenly appears in the intruders hand with your blood on it after you have shot him dead, chances are (very slim) that you MIGHT just get away with self-defence under very extenuating circumstances. Undecided

Would it matter? Ive done the gun dance before with gun lovers and it pointless. You will dispute any figures I produce and then counter with the NRA's stats which are something like 200 a year killed and so why would i bother? In climate change you are superb with stats and live and breathe them but as far as guns are concerned... you want them and so no stat will ever be correct unless it agrees with you.

Many of you simply salivate for the opportunity to kill someone. How many of you even KNOW someone who was assaulted or had a home invasion?

Or, just want to preserve self and loved ones.

I have no doubt that some of you would abandon your family for self in a heart beat due to fear. But that does not mean everyone is like you.  Smiley Smiley

They are only scumbag criminals, when it comes down to us or them; surely you have to side with us?

You and I have had this conversation before! You can be prosecuted for excessive force when responding to an attack. If I am struck on or about the head a lethal response is justified. That is the difference between the Laws of our Countries.

Why justified?  Are you so pitiful and lame that the only answer you have to any attack is to KILL?  The problem with such stupidity is that it invites lethal FIRST ATTACK.

idiot.

I can see why you don't understand, unlike most people your brain is in your Ass!

Many of you simply salivate for the opportunity to kill someone. How many of you even KNOW someone who was assaulted or had a home invasion?

I caught a Home Invader once and chased him off. Why would a sane person want to kill if it is not necessary?

When has he ever made sense? He's a smacking Texuun for bugger sake. If you think Morty Torty is bad, take a "holiday" there sometime and see for yourself how incredibly smacking stupid (and fat) Texuuns are. You'll find it to be an eye-opening experience. High school graduates (of which there are few) can't even do basics of addition and subtraction in that gawd-forsaken shithole of a state.

Marla is a good example of a person who shouldn't be allowed to own sharp objects much less firearms! Between the Anger Issues, Drug abuse and admitted general immoral lifestyle she poses a danger to others as well as her self.
