I don't know if this is true -

if a burglar injures themself on your property they
can claim money from you.

It is true,      .....particularly if   YOU   intentionally injured them, trying to protect yourself, or those you love, or your property.

Whereas, if they die, while up to no good while on your property......

You will likely have to explain why that happened, in a court of law.

It can be tricky.

Of course, if you live semi-rural,       .....we just 'disappear' those who die, while trying to harm us.

........a burglar CAN seek damages for injury, from you.

Its crazy!

......but here in semi-rural, a lot of our 'problems' can be solved.

We are resourceful people.

Why don't you believe me ?              Smiley

Guns are fun to shoot but it's good to know you can flip the bird in traffic and know the driver won't pull out a gun

That may have been intended as a flippant comment, but it is very powerful. You can get into a drunken bar argument knowing that the worst you will get with be a punch other than 17 bullets to the head which then starts a gun fight leaving a dozen dead.

John Howard did a brave and very good thing and Australia's gun death 'problem' is trivial compared to the USA and our violent crime rate, far lower.

When has he ever made sense? He's a smacking Texuun for bugger sake. If you think Morty Torty is bad, take a "holiday" there sometime and see for yourself how incredibly smacking stupid (and fat) Texuuns are. You'll find it to be an eye-opening experience. High school graduates (of which there are few) can't even do basics of addition and subtraction in that gawd-forsaken shithole of a state.

Herb, don't go cutting people off in traffic or giving the finger if you are the one cut off. Asserting yourself with rude behavior may not end well.

Morty Torty is right, Herbie.

I once saw a kid who I'd say was @17 flip off a biker. The biker stopped right in front of him in traffic, got off his bike, walked to car door, opened the car and and repeatedly pummeled that kind in the face with both fist until that kid was bloody mess.

Doesn't even have to be that. If a person enters my residence by illegal means, chances are high they are going to receive a bullet in their head. No conversation, no argument, no bargaining.

Dispatch his ass outa this world!!
Chalk it up to 'natural causes' ...... "....comes into my house, naturally he gets very dead...."   Wink

God Bless the ' Castle Doctrine ', where the police won't arrest the shooter, & if they do, in most cases prosecutors won't press charges because a jury almost never convicts when the Castle Doctrine is presented as a defense.

Here in Australia, the law is almost always stacked against the shooter/gun owner.

Way to go Marla but here in OZ the prevailing thinking is that anyone entering premises by illegal means is excused because of bad childhood, mental illness, didn't know it was illegal, or is a new immigrant/refugee.

We are not at liberty to harm them except by using "reasonably force, just enough to make them run away", and then call the Police and give a full description of the poor soul, so counseling can be applied to make them a better person

You and I have had this conversation before! You can be prosecuted for excessive force when responding to an attack. If I am struck on or about the head a lethal response is justified. That is the difference between the Laws of our Countries.

Why justified?  Are you so pitiful and lame that the only answer you have to any attack is to KILL?  The problem with such stupidity is that it invites lethal FIRST ATTACK.

idiot.

Yes it's not like the USA here -

we have only a limited right of self defense &
even if you win the court case you'll lose your house in legal fees.
It's not fair.

In Australia if an intruder invades your home and you try to defend yourself, by whatever means..the home owner goes to jail- truth Shocked Shocked Shocked

I would still let him have it- he is not there for any other reason except to cause harm or death..I would worry about that later- in jail.
