If Streep wants to be taken seriously, she should put her name on a ballot paper then let her voice represent the people who voted for her.

Until then, she's just another showbiz person having a spray.

Ironic, since the new president is actually a SHOWBIZ PERSON.

Nothing ironic. He got the votes. Has she?

She should get herself elected to office if she wants a policicat voice.
Until then, she's just another Hollywood bozo with an opinion.

So you are not entitled to a political opinion unless you get elected?  WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE ON A POLITICAL OPINION SITE?????

Entertainment Industry Awards nights are political opinion sites?  I don't think so.

Own goal!

ANYWHERE... is a political opinion zone. It is one of those things we like to call Freedom of Speech.  And after all, haven't you noticed how so many people agree with her sentiments? But even if they didnt, political opinion is a RIGHT.

Having a right means she can, and probably does, air her opinions in the company of friends/colleagues etc or in the appropriate forum.

It's bad taste to do what she did when she has an audience that cannot escape her or her views and has to sit there and listen.

Just because we have free speech does not mean we should use that in a manner which exudes bad taste.

Do you think there were many in THAT room that would have disagreed with her? IN fact, were there ANY at all?  Hollywood and actors have been a specific target for Trumps insane, unhinged vitriol. They certainly have not only the right, but the responsibility to return fire.

Anyhow, in a year's time Trump will have cause so much havoc and destruction that his support level may actually touch 0%

Elsewhere there is a place where you, and I mean you literally, can edict who may converse and who may not.  This is not such a place.

Not many here are keen on 'drama queen' performances.

So once again... your determination about havnt the right to express a political opinion is limited to not only being on the ballot, but winning? How exactly does that differ from North Korea or any other dictatorship?

She's using her fame and influence in a way that it hasn't been earned. That's why.

Hasnt earned the right to speak?  NO ONE HAS TO EARN THAT RIGHT. It is an implicit right of living in a free democracy, something King Trump neither understands or respects.

Maybe she should run for president next election.

I am sure there were PLENTY in that room who disagreed with her and how arrogant of you to think otherwise.

The point is they went there that night for AWARDS and not for political viewpoints.

Well at least she is american. You have the audacity to express a political opinion while not even being a citizen of that country. Or maybe... just maybe... the right to hold and express a political opinion is one of Western Civilisations great banner acheivements?

This is what I despise about Trump supporters in general. Not just that they are stupid - which is self-evident - but that they embody the very worst in tolerance of diverging opinions.

You obviously dont read much. One commentator said mockingly of Trumps claim that she was overrated 'Well she isnt a SCott Baiou', because Scott is about the only actor of note that anyone can find who supports Trump.  its like trying to find a technology guru who is a Trumpoid. There is one - just one - and Trump gave him a govt job.

You would have had more Trump supporters at a DNC rally.

Nice rant.  She should take her views to a TED talk or a YouTube monologue.
