North, i always found "thinking" over rated.

So, rather than admit your inability to 'think', you rationalise that it is not really desirable...

if 'thinking" and "mentally masturbating" prevents "taking action", then it is not desirable.

How do you become a self actualised fully functional human being....by taking action, falling down, getting back up , learning lessons, applying those lessons, staying true to the processes you have found work.

You cannot and will not go anywhere in "thought".

In fact, google, facebook and microsoft agree with me and are paying for their "creative' employees to do sessions of meditation.  and do them every day.
meditation involves "emptying the mind of thought". it is from this place that creativity emerges.

You are smart enough to understand paradox, i am sure NoN.

i shant respond to longweekends derision of my ideas.
I have strong personal boundaries.
My "inner cheerleaders" are all on my team and i do not engage in meaningless to and fro negativity. "Action" has taught me that this would just fuel a downward spiral  Wink

It takes a special kind of stupid to decry 'thinking' and merely responsive action.

Your 'inner cheerleaders' are not what you think they are. (consider schizophrenia for instance)

i dont like to sh*t talk people and i will tell you why.
There is a very good book by Michael Jordans coach called "Relentless" about how to compete and achieve excellence.

In it , the author, Tim Grover, says that "you know your competition has been completely beaten , when all they can do is sh*t talk you".

I believe this to be true of the current analysis of Trump.

From gregs repeated talk of pedophilia to a whole host of character assasinations, i know that Trumps opponents have nothing bacuse this is the tactic they have resorted to.
It is a dark path they have gone down and i dont think it does them any good.
And for future reference, when all you can offer up is to sh*t talk someone, i dont think that is showing a lot of reflective thought on your part.

Steven Coveys excellent work "Crucial conversations" would help you to engage in a more mature and manly way

Well, I guess all else being benign, that'd work...

But what if all that can be said about someone amounts to sh*t talk? There are plenty (not here) I could name who deserve only sh*t talk...

Do you really think sh*t talking is, by that fact, necessarily and exclusively because the talker has been beaten?

You are so stupid that you cannot even understand how truly stupid you are. Of course you support Trump - a man who is going to very publicly show his stupidty to all.

Anyone that is so gobsmackingly willing to actually decry 'thinking' is clearly very deficient in a wide variety of areas. THINKING is what has constructed our entire society.

Because he is unashamedly and proudly a 'non-thinker' it is unlikely to occur to him that calling someone a complete fool, might be nothing more than an accurate assessment.

I think they have largely gone. Maybe they've checked into rest cure homes.

                         **************

Trump and FDR are/were facing two entirely different sets of economic circumstances, as I'm sure you're aware NorthbyNorth.

In FDR's case, he had to deal with banking collapses, especially local banks as well as the national variety. He had a total collapse of effective consumer & producer demand at home and abroad. He had, well who knows, 20-30% living off the soup kitchens.

In Trump's case the situation is nearly as dramatic in some respect but it's more of a transitional economic problem and a trade problem.

I reject your categorisation of FDR as hard leftist. He was a pragmatic & charismatic administrator, and a shrewd judge of people to do the necessary jobs, just as, in my limited judgement, I take Trump to be.

We shall see what we shall see. But my confident expectation is that after 4 years, when Trump decides it's time for him to pass the baton on, there will be a definite majority clamouring for him to stay.

At the very least he was branded a socialist (even a communist) by his critics...

BTW it is possible to be a pragmatic & charismatic administrator, and a shrewd judge of people to do the necessary jobs and also be a socialist (or hard leftist)...

In Trump's case, if he does ultimately warrant the epithet "socialist", it will be one of the great political ironies in modern history... As he would then, of course, be a hero to the left and, of course, a 'great betrayer' to the right...

The question would then be not what he is branded, but can he fill the shoes of the great one who went before him.

You mean you want a THOUGHTful response composed by a THINKing person? I can do that easily, but you dont appreciate or respect thinking or even practice it so calling you a fool is all anyone could do for you. And they would still be right.

He was branded a socialist by people who had grown up in the Victorian age. Today the Democrats would be No Platforming him and he would have Black Lives Matter rioting & burning cars.
We would call him a good centre left leader now, like the ill-fated Matteo Renzi.
