the other night I ate at a restaurant that has been operated by the same family since 1840:

it was like traveling back in time.

176 years in business. Can you guess where it is?

Oysters Rockefeller was invented here in 1889. Archaic desserts such as Baked Alaska are still on the menu.

That being said, the food is not outstanding, nothing cutting edge. Dishes your great-grandmother would recognize.

you tyalk a lot about healthy eating..

well all I can say is your great grandmother wouldnt have cooked anything other than healthy..

the place looks outstanding.. if you are looking for modern..with a spot here and a smudge there on the plate this wouldnt be a good choice of venue.....

I love atmosphere..how was the service and the price?..

Cool looking place AIA and I LOVE Bombe Alaska!

It reminds me of this little pub in Sydney except the walls in this pub in Sydney are covered in trophy animals Cry

It has a sunken bar too which is really weird. The first time I went there I asked the barman why he was standing down in a pit and he told me the owner made it that way because he is a midget.

I guess the owner wanted to stand on the patrons side of the bar and look the bar staff in the eyes. Odd!

Aia I have watched a few American cooking shows...and of course Gordon Ramseys hotel hell...and I dont think I would en joy American food it all seems covered in thick rich sauces...in a few cases out of bottles or packets...ugh...I dont like my food messed around I like to recognise what I am eating..and not have it taste of one thing that is usually a herb of some sorts overpowering everything in sight..

so I may have to give that a miss.. no matter how authentic it is.

But the Boudin ... and the Gumbo, well, there are no words ...

Soft shell crab...OMFG. I usually get SSC pad thai from a place in Thai Town.... Yumbo.
