Do you eat chicken Emma?

What's that got to do with whaling?

Whale meat is a better option than chicken.

We can intensively farm whale?

We've already tried that and nearly wiped all the great whales out.

While I'm all for protecting whales I disagree with the methods used by those bloody fools at Sea Shepherd. Their juvenile 'look at me' antics will get someone killed fairly soon.  Also, what happens if the interference becomes so annoying that the Japanese send a warship or two to escort the whalers?

Don't be ridiculous.  To consider such a possibility..?.the Japanese sending warships... is to imagine all sorts of unrealistic, but vague possibilities. Mate, they've got MOUNTAINS of FROZEN whale meat.!!  It is a question really of nationalism and domination.
We can't legally, as a nation , go much further . There is no political WILL for sabre-rattling with Japan on this matter.
The govt(s) of Australia have been doing everything they can legally do, and gained a positive judgement. But, the Japanese aren't listening.!

I  am , also, proud of the action of INDIVIDUALS that get together to try and change something, to stop something like whale-hunting. Well done I say. When governments and Courts have failed, due to the intransience of Japan, there is little left to combat this practice, but individuals acting..

The fact that Sea Sheperd are prepared to put their own selves on the line is inspiring , in my view, and proves that not ALL humans are self-interested short-sighted creeps.

Well Cods I agree with you....

and I have referred to other countries and cultures that kill whales

I don't think you have really read my posts.
You think I am picking on JAPAN.?  Picking on Japan? Roll Eyes

The way I see it, I am talking about whale-hunting.

Chickens are a whole other kettle of fish. Smiley So to speak. Personally I only eat limited chicken meat, and I much prefer organically raised meat. I agree with you,  and also that all intensive farming needs to be looked at as to their procedures.

Are you suggesting that if you aren't fighting for the well-being of all species you are a hypocrite fighting for the well-being of one?

Should the Sea Shepards divide their resources amongst all species in need to satisfy you?

From what I understand, Japan is the only country to kill whales in international waters of the Southern Ocean, which was declared a sanctuary for whales in 1994.

Iceland and Norway are still killing plenty of whales, but they're doing it in northern European waters.

ALL like-minded  individuals should hail Sea Shepherd and Whale Warrior  activists as the only power in the southern region to actually take real action to prevent whale-hunting.

Funded entirely by private donations, this org is the only thing standing in the way of the Japanese whaling fleet.

All power to them.

Good to see your responses...

Must be a problem somewhere, because none of them have come through as notifications.

I put the Forum  into search to find your posts.

What is with that?

Yeah and so,   Setanta has it     and no its nothing like CHICKEN, FD.  Roll Eyes Huh Smiley

I've never eaten it, but THAT is NOT the point.

Whales are not a part of the human food chain.  Not now anyway.

OK the Inuits can do as they choose... they are the only true cultural whale-eaters on the planet. They are the only exception I make to whale-hunting. Assuming they still do it on a needs basis.
The Norwegians and such can claim the right to hunt whales, as some sort of cultural  'need'. I don't buy that either, but the JAPANESE...?  WTF..?

These people and governments like the ones who claim  a  cultural right to this are playing games. At the expense of sentient beings, whose right to life is as great as ours. I would extend this to many other species, but we are talking about whale-hunting here... for commercial, but truly unsound reasons....

Funny this cultural 'right' doesn't apply across the board.  Roll Eyes

Why don't we allow former headhunters a week in the sun.?  Or cannibals.? Hmmm?

Because.....?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts. i

So now we are only allowed to eat traditional food based on racial stereotypes? Shall we forbid aborigines from eating steak and make them eat grubs instead? After all, what right do they have to sacred cows?

No Gnads, that was the opposite of farming.

The Japs have already sunk their gay bat boat. Sea Shepherd got no sympathy. That's what happens when you try to stop a steal ship with a plastic toy.

Our politicians will happily reinforce and pander to our ignorant self indulgence in our recently acquired cultural taboos, but they know they have no moral right to tell the Japs what to do.

Nice logic there Emma. The law is not on your side, so the only option is to break the law, putting people's lives on the line in the process? This is just wrong on so many levels. But let's start with a simple one: do you realise that the moronic actions of Sea Shepherd are doing more to undermine international support for the anti-whalers than any Japanese propaganda could?

Because Sea Shepherd profits from subtle appeals to racism. You won't see them attacking white people the same way they do the Japs.

We know Emma. You apply a completely different set of logic to yourself than you do to the inferior races.

Declare whatever you want. It is meaningless and Japan is under no obligation to accept.

Plus, they are white.
