5 th day: Anti Trump protests continue
Nov 15th, 2016 at 1:00am

Trump tenure is going to be extremely divisive and turbulent. He won't create any jobs and no new factories will be built during his tenure. It takes 10 years to establish viable manufacturing operations.

...

http://edition.cnn.com/2016/11/13/us/protests-elections-trump/index.html

Quote:
Protesters hit the streets Sunday over the election of Donald Trump, marking the fifth day of demonstrations in cities such as New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco.

In Manhattan, a group gathered to demonstrate against Trump's immigration policies.
"The main purpose is to tell Donald Trump he can't just deport 11 million undocumented people," Noelle Yasso said. "They're here to stay and we stand in solidarity with them."
Yasso, who said she was an immigration lawyer, said immigrants are terrified.
"They're saying, 'Are we going to be deported tomorrow?' " she said. "People don't know what will happen and they're very scared."

Police confront demonstrators outside City Hall in Los Angeles on Sunday.
Protesters are upset about Trump's policies on health care, the environment, LGBT rights and other issues. Some are questioning the legitimacy of Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton by noting that although he took the Electoral College, Clinton won the popular vote.

Over the weekend, Los Angeles saw anti-Trump protests swell to 8,000 people on Saturday. In New York, thousands peacefully marched two miles on Saturday and gathered outside Trump Tower, the President-elect's home in Manhattan, where they chanted "not my president."
Reports of racism, bigotry post-election

Reports of racism, bigotry post-election 01:09
On Sunday, around 100 people peacefully protested in front of the CNN building in Los Angeles, said a member of CNN security. A small protest also took place midday Sunday in Springfield, Massachusetts. Protests also flared in large metropolitan areas including Philadelphia, Oakland, San Francisco, and Chicago.

5 things anti-Trump protesters want
Since Election Day, many have expressed fears of bigotry and racial violence against minorities, amid incidents of harassment, slurs and hate crimes. In an interview on CBS' "60 Minutes" that aired Sunday night, Trump told his supporters to stop the harassment, and that he would, "bring this country together."

Trump to supporters harassing minorities: 'Stop it'
As for anti-Trump protests, he said: "I think it's horrible if that's happening. I think it's built up by the press because, frankly, they'll take every single little incident that they can find in this country, which could've been there before. If I weren't even around doing this, and they'll make into an event because that's the way the press is."

Portland protests
Most protests around the nation had been peaceful. But Portland, Oregon, has been the site of the most violent anti-Trump demonstrations with a shooting and the arrest of 71 people on Saturday.
Police reported that the march was much smaller Sunday night with no arrests.

anti-Obama demonstrations are still going on eight years later or did you think the "Tea Party" was something else?

Now a million woman march planned:

http://rinf.com/alt-news/newswire/one-million-women-expected-to-march-in-dc-on-t...

Quote:
Over a million women are expected to march in Washington D.C. to “take a stand” for women’s rights, a day after Donald Trump is sworn into office, organizers say.

Scheduled to take place on Saturday January 21, the day after Trump’s inauguration, the march has been spurred by the president-elect’s attitude towards women, including a series of degrading comments made about women in the past, said Bob Bland, one of the New York organizers.

The “Women’s March on Washington,” has already attracted more than 40,000 people within 24 hours of it being announced, according to the group’s Facebook page.

On January 20th, Trump will be sworn as President. On January 21st, a million women plan to march at the White House to condemn his misogyny

— Miriam Brett (@MiriamBrett) November 11, 2016

Organizers were criticised for initially calling the event “Million Women March,” a 1997 Philadelphia event organised by African-American women to highlight issues that were seen to be ignored by other women’s rights groups.

“This is an INCLUSIVE march, and EVERYONE who supports women’s rights are welcome,” reads the event’s Facebook page. “This is not an anti-trump protest – but a peaceful march to take a stand for our values, our loved ones and our rights.”

Plans for the march came together two days after Trump won the election, Bland added.

“We need to be working together in a coherent, supportive way over the next four years, to activate more women into leadership positions, to be more politically active,” she said. “We cannot allow ourselves to give up, put our heads down and not hold this administration accountable for any violation of human rights or women’s rights.”

Fontaine Pearson, another organizer from Memphis, said people are being mobilised state by state.

“We have a huge groundswell of women,” she told Reuters. “This is growing faster than anyone expected.”

Trump was heavily criticized during his election campaign for insulting female reporters and was also denounced after a video emerged of him bragging about groping women, prompting further allegations of sexual harassment from several others.

Trump denied any wrongdoing following the release of the footage and said his words were simply “locker room talk.”

Yes, but who makes the robots? You tell me that.

Someone has to make Amerika great again. I don't care if it's a robot or not.

who makes the robots? not the people who think old-school manufacturing jobs will return on the scale they once existed ... not the people who expect Trump to work miracles in manufacturing

It appears the GFC interrupted a severe rate of decline in USA manufacturing as percent of GDP. However it is still declining. Jobs are even worse. I believe manufacturing jobs are only ~ 6% of total employment:

Why not? Trump can get the Chinese to do all the patents, design and marketing. He can bring all the assembling plants to Amerika and sack the robots.

You're fired.

Trump won on the basis of exploiting the myth of the loss of the white male privilege. Not socioeconomic or geopolitical but a racialist narrative.

On one of these so-called 24 cable media whoring outlets the most votes the Trump received came from the most impoverished sections of America where the average income was less than $30,000. This was particularly true in Midwestern states where the "swing" of the poorest voters who favored Trump was even larger.

While on the other side of the fence, the affluent and well-to-do voted for Clinton than they had voted for Obammie back in 2012. Their average income ranged somewhere between $125,000 and $250,000. What was more bizarre is the increasing numbers Democratic voters who are the some of the richest voting block increased from 2.16 million in 2012 to 3.46 million in 2016 (an increase of 60%).

And who says capitalism doesn't work much less benefits all?

The Trump presidency (such as it is) will soon turn into a buyer's remorse. Like all politicians before him, he will backpedal, reinvent, and above all else, lie about his alleged reforms to make America great again. He, like Hillary would have done, will poo all over the working class.

All Trump will deliver is more austerity and war. No different from Clinton. And, as for all of you kangaroo rooters reading this, I can see why so many of you are pro-Trump. After all, Australian imperialism has always based itself upon America to assert Australia's strategic and economic interests on the world stage (can you say "Asia"?)  Canberra in return has become Washington's little bitch. Just look at the ANZUS military alliance with the American war machine and how Australia has been a critical in playing the part of US military bases (I should now, I requested to serve in Darwin) that allow for continued US imperialism to assert is global hegemony.

Canberra under Trump will continue to be Washington’s little bitch especially when Trump decides to start smacking with the Chinese in the ways he has promised. Yes, Canberra will be America's puppet enshrining American dominance over the Asia-Pacific region while America itself continues to rot and decay. Australia and its financial and corporate conglomerates stand to benefit a lot from Trump while America's working class will continue to be screwed.

Well, yes, Australia has always been the most indefatigable ally of the US and we love to prove it whenever we can... You could say, since WW2, that Australia has been the crypto- / quasi- union of (undeclared) US states,

But we're emerging into in a new world now.

One that includes a China that is no longer weak and isolated but sees its hegemony in the Western Pacific as its destiny...

China will insist on its expanded role in our region... And Trump, with his many promises to 'rejuvenate the US, with all its attendant implications towards a 1920's style American isolationism, will be pressured by the Chinese to grant them their perceived 'birthright'...

Should we hope for Trump a Johnsonesque doctrine? When, as it turned out, he lept, life a falling angel, from the Olympic heights of a civil rights god-President to the depths of demonised and failed war President (all within 4 years)? Who went from "All the way with LBJ" to "Lying Bastard Johnson"...

Or would a Trump at war with China, to constrain Chinese expansionism, prove him to be the Martian war President Johnson hoped he, himself, would become through victory in Vietnam?

Will Trump deem it in US national interests to attempt to hold back the tide of Sinicization of the Western Pacific or will he kowtow?

(Cue theme from 'Soap').

Good point North.
Due to the fact that australian governments want to employ people in fake jobs in the public service etc, the only way to finance this is to sell the farm to China.
So big government, leftie socialists are empowering China and they wont need to invade us to control us, they will be employing your grandchildren on slave wages after Canberra sells the farm to provide for the entitled baby boomers of today.
Inter generational theft, as MR Abbott so correctly labelled it.
Its our selfishness and entitlement that will make us slaves to China. I'd rather we became the 52 nd state of the USA to be honest. Trump is far less ruthless then the central planning committee in Beijing

Who do you figure will beat us to being the 51st? Cos, y'know, that sounds like a challenge we should be in on! Except we should proabaly push for 51st, 52nd, 53rd, 54th...

Puerto Rico or Cuba.
Maybe venezuela.

Global economy = a very small world.

Who to lead the world?

Someone who believes each individual needs to pull himself up by his bootstraps (Donald)...yes please.

Someone who believes we need to nationalise food production (leftwing intellectual nin-com-poops like the greens)..no thank you.

The world is one big paddock NoN.
There is only one alpha allowed in a paddock and once we establish who the alpha is we can all fall into line and seek comfort in his/her strong confident leadership.
It had been this way since Alexander the Great, since gengis Khan, since Napoleon.
It is simply the way the world works.

This leftard socialist utopia that came to light as some sort of unnatural thought bubble in the last 60 years is just an abhoration. just a little detour down a dead end. Now the world is swinging around at the end of theis cul-de-sac and saying "WTF did we go down there for"

Lets get back on track.

Siri gave us a wrong direction for a half a century or so.
But we have seen this for what it is and our true human selves now know that we must embrace the world with all its imperfections and stop trying to control that which cannot be controlled.

We can only be responsible for ourselves. the world is inherently unfair and harsh....thats what makes it beautiful. Donald sees it. A prophet ahead of his time. Wink
