This was the call in 2000.......The Result........Albert Gore still lost......George Bush was inaugurated as scheduled without incident.

Every time there is a close election, the call goes out to "Change the Electoral College System", but after 230+ years it's still there, & the American People who don't like it still get over it in due course.

If the American People wanted to change the Electoral College System in the US Constitution they would need to petition for a Constitutional Amendment, introduce it into the Republican Congress, get it passed...not by a majority, but by a super majority in both the Senate & the House of Representatives...& that's just for starters.....they would then have to put it to a passage vote of the 50 States, of which 3/4 of them....38 States.....would have to agree with it. Traditionally this would take between 7 & 20 years. Of the over 1,400 proposed Amendments to the US Constitution that followed this difficult path over 230+ years, only 17 succeeded.

So, go to the American People with a petition from this forum, & convince them that we Australians think they should change their most sacred & revered document to make the World happy, & make America more Democratic.

If they don't laugh you out of town tarred & feathered on a rail, & they somehow decide you're 100% correct, then I wish you clear sailing before you pile up on the solid rocks known as the "United States" of America!
