this off FB..so then why did Trump win..I don't understand the US voting system- was it to do with electoral voting and what is electoral voting.

Yes, the majority of American voters wanted Clinton as their President.

Second, no candidate got a majority of those who did vote vote - currently 47.5 to 47.7%.

Third, counting has not finished - besides remaining absentee votes, there are still 650,000 votes to be counted in arizona, and something stopping them from making 2 other states official. 

Why does it matter anyway?  It was always known that the electoral college was a factor.  When Trump raised the possibility of it being rigged, he was assured that it was all above board - what's changed?

If there was no electoral college, Trumps campaign would have been different.  He would have pandered to the big cities and forgotten those who ended up delivering him to victory.  He ran the correct campaign for the circumstance.

Hilary was supposed to be the seasoned campaigner who knew the system like the back of her hand, but even with everything on her side, she was simply outplayed.

This thread is a step forward.  A sign that the healing has begun.

It is a clear display that while they were in shock and denial yesterday, today they have transitioned to the 3rd stage of grief - bargaining.

There's gonna be a whole lot of "we should have done more" threads in the next day or 2, as they continue into the guilt phase.

Slightly more reassuring is the fact that about 60 million American voted for Trump, out of a population of over 300 million - ie - only about 20% of Americans actually voted for him.

(Yes, I know that total population includes those too young to vote, but only about 50% of the electorate actually bothered to vote - so it still indicates that significantly more people didn't vote for Trump than did.  That provides a small ray of hope that the USA is not completely overrun by ignorant bigots just yet...)
