HILLARY CLINTON WON THE POPULAR VOTE!
Nov 10th, 2016 at 3:48am

Yeah, I know it doesn't matter, but the fact remains that the MAJORITY of Americans prefer Clinton to Trump and the only reason he is president is because of an outdated 18th-century convention ...

Yes, it appears that she won 48% of the vote while Mr Trump only received 47%.

Reminds me of the 1998 Australian Federal election when Labor/Beazley won 51% of the vote, but lost the election to John Howard and the corrupt Liberal Party.

but that outdated 18th century convention was fine when Clinton got elected??....

its strange but it really is what trump says..

if its wrong  why didnt the Democrats change it????

Clinton complained about trump not paying tax... yet she never changed the system which he used legally....she also never exposed any of her very own very  rich  donators who use the same system.. funny that..

if anyone abuses anything at all its the Clintons....

she has had massive problems for years but they have huge clout in Washington where it counts....

one thing I do hope happens here is all the the things trump has been saying about her are investigated and proved either way......she has been in politics for 30 years I would hate to think she had a huge cover up for 30 years.... I think that would be shattering to be honest...

.so yes lets find her innocent...for all our sakes.. we need to believe in something and hope not all idols have feet of clay.

All the votes aren't in yet as far as I can see.
But the map's certainly in and all that red is hurting my eyes.

It is strange, that's for sure.

"The system was established to ensure regional balance — it makes it mathematically impossible for a candidate with large amounts of support in just one region to overwhelm the vote."

"The founding fathers established it in the Constitution as a compromise between election of the President by a vote in Congress and election of the President by a popular vote of qualified citizens."

"The reason that the Constitution calls for this extra layer, rather than just providing for the direct election of the president, is that most of the nation’s founders were actually rather afraid of democracy. James Madison worried about what he called “factions,” which he defined as groups of citizens who have a common interest in some proposal that would either violate the rights of other citizens or would harm the nation as a whole. Madison’s fear — which Alexis de Tocqueville later dubbed “the tyranny of the majority” — was that a faction could grow to encompass more than 50% of the population, at which point it could “sacrifice to its ruling passion or interest both the public good and the rights of other citizens.” Madison has a solution for tyranny of the majority: “A republic, by which I mean a government in which the scheme of representation takes place, opens a different prospect, and promises the cure for which we are seeking.”

American States were fiercely independent to start with and to some extent they still are.
Only a system that skews the system to some extent to acknowledge less populous states would keep the Union together.

America isn't New York, Los Angeles, Boston, Philadelphia etc. It's the United States.

I would imagine a lot of racism is there as well...you can tell by the way some States are automatically accepted as being Rep or Demo....its left to very few States to make the difference...

I believe m any many blacks voted for Obama... yet would not vote for either white candidate...

it will probably be a few more years before any of it changes.....
