Today's Our Independence Day
Nov 9th, 2016 at 2:08pm

Modelling is now showing a Trump Presidency and a Republican controlled house.

Today is Australia's Independence Day.

Time to scrap ANZUS, kick the americans out of Pine Gap, Dump the American bases up north, Dump Britain and become a republic ... and enter this brave new world as a grown up and independent nation.

... and a nation of 24 million of many different kinds and not all pulling the wagon of state the same way by any stretch of the imagination... all thoroughly swimming in a vast sea of billions of neighbours, all of whose nations would love to romp in and take over the joint if we but once abandon our alliances.....

When Julia offered us the Asian Century*, it wasn't supposed to be as serfs to Asians.... where's Pauline when you need her?

*Asians will become consumers of high quality finished goods

... she forgot that we no longer make any 'high quality finished goods'.... politicians utter their great truths out of their rear ends....

If you are scared of independent thinking, then start a movement for Australia being the 52nd state, and surrender responsibility.
Other option, as an independent nation, we interact with China and all other independent nations do.

So you want to be subservient ... that's because you see yourself as weak.

It's not a choice between licking the rear end of either China or US. It's about choosing our own destiny.

Not true. In WW2 the Brisbane line followed the Murray-Darling then to Brisbane and then across to Wide Bay IIRC.  Anything West and North of the line was gone.

That opinion is based on the fact that we are very sparsely populated, have huge easily accessed resources, and a very professional but small defence force, incapable of defending this country without assistance.

So who are we equal to and would want to be allied with us?

I presume you have thought this through and worked out hoe to defend Australia once we cut ties with our traditional allies and go out into a hostile world undefended.

States that share our values.
A good start would be regional neighbours like Indonesia and New Zealand,.

Quote:
The success of rogue Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has forced the Turnbull government into a furious recalibration of policy, from international trade agreements to crucial foreign and strategic treaty arrangements.

Quote:
During the longest and most bitterly fought campaign in US political history, Mr Trump had expressed contempt for America's security role in the world, floated the idea of giving nuclear arms to South Korea and Japan, vowed to keep North Korea and China in check, and proposed to tear up various trade agreements.

Quote:
Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop struck a more cautious note, revealing Canberra remained in the dark on Mr Trump's foreign policy stances in trade and security, and could not predict what these policies would look like.

Quote:
Ms Bishop denied that the government had been caught out by American voters, while issuing a none-too-subtle call for like-minded countries to join Australia in pressuring Washington to stay engaged with the world in economic and strategic spheres.

The US is centred on growing it's economy and not being the leader of the free world.

Perhaps, but not necessarily militarily. The Australian economy, already fragile and moribund, could tip over into a technical recession if the rest of the world loses confidence. If there is a recession, the Liberals would have no chances at the next election.

The upside though is that Trump is likely to kill off the TPP. That neo-liberal madness would be facing the stiff headwinds of global protectionism that are building around the world. It's not for no reason that One Nation and NXT both have four MPs in Federal Parliament.

So who is going to defend Australia when the Chinese come knocking?

Just Australia. The ANZUS treaty is more like trade symbolism. The Chinese coming a-knockin' to take over Australia will be a heavy cost to the Chinese. The Chinese coming to make trouble in our region, that would be another thing. But the Chinese are becoming progressively less hostile militarily, as the importance of good trade relations helps their economy. We need not fear the Chinese.

Fine, how do your suggest we maintain security without ANZUS?

What level of defence spending do you thing is appropriate to defend Australia from ALL potential threats now and into the future.

This is not something you fkk around with this is our very existence you are dealing with now.

So ..................

Im not the one who suggested anything about dumping ANZUS, that was you, I do  not have to find solutions for a problem that currently does NOT exist; you have to, for problems of your making.

You lot have it all wrong.

What we need is to pull together with our allies, America, UK, etc, white functional countries.

Then we need to dump the multinationals, make industry Australian based, re-introduce tariffs and make China and their like pay their way.

Then we really need to stop giving away money to parasites, Indonesia, Africa etc.
Look after our own, first, second, third and fourth.

Stop immigration from third world countries, only bring in Christians and those who have the same values as us.
Make those who are here behave themselves or send them elsewhere, who cares where.

Bring home all our soldiers, let these useless countries fight their own battles.
But if they DARE to attack us, we will strike with closed fists and with everything we have.
We need nukes.

Make Australia great again.

Trump is isolationistic, and Aus. may not get a choice of keeping ANZUS. As Australia was caught out yesterday, we must have a plan two, a future without the US babysitting us.

Choices include becoming neutral, picking up the pieces of US retreat and form closer ties with states that also have been left high and dry, or my personal choice : a war no more coalition. All states around the planet who will pledge a war no more future join together. Any state is challenged and then every other state rises in defence of them.

As far as militarising and the spending, we got to choose a path first, then work out how to achieve that path.

Now, if ANZUS crumbles, what do you think we should do?

If we lose the USA nuclear umbrella we
will have to build our own nukes.

So will: Japan, South Korea, Indonesia etc

The world could be a far more dangerous place.

With a China US trade war, we should expect our dollar to drop to 50 cents or less against the US.
Also world trade will dry up and so Australia falling into a recession is highly likely considering how pathetic both the coalition and labor are with economics.

A weapons race is extremely expensive.
Are we all willing to pay substantial taxes over a long period so to fund it?

ANZUS has not crumbled, YOU have demanded we flush it down the toilet (check your OP), you need to tell everyone how we should maintain our sovereignty and security with out it.

Also the US will not give up their main communications / spy base in the southern hemisphere, for a petulant 1 term president. They would lose too much of their own security if they did so. Something you have not considered, or I doubt you even knew, did you?  Smiley Smiley

Ok.Hypothetical
Trump's main focus is the business of building the US economy, and not defence of Australia. What if the US pulls out of ANZUS, as a cost cutting measure.

Australia must start formulating a plan B.

What do you think our plan B should be?

So in this hypothetical he is giving up Pine Gap the main US spy base in the southern hemisphere and  communications to their nuclear submarines?

Well in this hypothetical I would say we should employ the group hug philosophy and sing kumbaya, as it will never happen.

YOU were the one to demand that we abandon our main security treaty ANZUS not trump and not as a hypothetical but as an actual action. So answer the question posed.

The USA will NEVER willingly give up Pine Gap. That is the answer to your cretinous hypothetical.

The US are pulling out of NATO ... who would of thought that could ever happen.

No plan B on the US also pulling out of the two bob ANZUS Treaty means we are going to be caught wiith our pants down again, as we were yesterday.

Both old parties are old and not alert to the high risk world we now live in.

No plan B is a a death wish.
Australia's defence independency is a longterm solution.
How we get there and what form it takes is what must be debated.

Stationing their very important spy base in our country would not come for free either. He, like you, needs to learn basic tit - for - Tat rules

The US military will NOT give up there strategic foot hold of the southern hemisphere just because of a cretin like trump doesn't understand basic national security.

Now you need to stop with these stupid red herrings and answer the question.

How do you propose we secure our national sovereignty when you rip up ANZUS?

The article is in diplomatic speak.
Trump wants everyone to pay for US defence protection.

Are you willing to pay a US defence tax, so to fund Donald's trade undermining of Australia?

Gullible Greenies_Lose is still banging away on the shed wall about his Greenie UN One World Govt Propaganda rubbish.

Pres Trump will put the silly Greenie UN One World Govt back at least 100 years.

The UN had to revise Agenda 21 into Agenda 2030 because it was a flop even tho the Greenies loved it as it saved them from having to think.

Now that Trumpy is in power it looks as tho the UN will also have to revise Agenda 2030.

The UN had to revise Agenda 21 into Agenda 2030 because it was a flop even tho the Greenies loved it as it saved them from having to think.

Now that Trumpy is in power it looks as tho the UN will also have to revise Agenda 2030.

A one world government is closer today than it was two days ago.
A 'war no more' coalition is the fastest way of achieving a one world government.
As this 'war no more' coalition grows stronger, the take up will speed up.

See heres the essential problem. If you voted for Trump because you're in Detroit and you're unemployed and you believe he can bring jobs back fine. If you voted for Trump because you're a bit worried about terrorism, a little less fine but still ok. If you voted for Trump because you think this seriously unhinged BS that juliar just posted is true, then you need your smacking head examined.

Trump wants everyone to pay for US defence protection.

Are you willing to pay a US defence tax, so to fund Donald's trade undermining of Australia?

Greenies_Lose, You are wasting you breath.

the cat is out of the bag now about your beloved Greenies hidden agenda to reduce Australia to  a 4th world country and then to turn it into a dumping ground for the world's unwanted trash, that is turn Australia into a black, brown, and brindle SLUM!!!!

The signs are there for all to see in Sth Aust.

The Greenies hope that they will become part of the UN One World Govt and be put in charge of Australia. Will Kruddy return to become president of Australia ?

Anyone who can't see this just needs to have a look at the UN Agenda 21 and they will recognize the Greenies "policies" straight away.

Things like no borders, free movement of population just like Europe, set marine parks up to stop fishing, loss of private ownership, etc and so on.

Greenies_Lose is getting frantic now that Trumpy will abandon this UN One World Govt rubbish that Obama and Hillary liked so much.

So expect Greenies_Lose to keep chundering out ruddiculous lying hypocrite Greenie propaganda trash until the cows come come.

Greenies_Lose, you should get that Greenie Train Wreck in to help you.

Trump is isolationistic, and Aus. may not get a choice of keeping ANZUS. As Australia was caught out yesterday, we must have a plan two, a future without the US babysitting us.

Choices include becoming neutral, picking up the pieces of US retreat and form closer ties with states that also have been left high and dry too, or my personal choice : a war no more coalition.

And? We have had nuclear weapons in our country, and we can do it again. Indonesia won't let 100 million Javanese starve whilst they develop nuclear weapons. They will keep weaving those baskets, and complaining about their lot in life. Indonesia might even stand down a bit with their military.

I m not in this, there is NO Big Ol Plan A, I made no statements, you did, So why are you asking for my Plan B; YOU are the one making us tear up ANZUS NO-ONE else. I told you that the US will NOT tear up ANZUS there is no need to look any further, unless YOU tear it up as YOU stated in your OP.

YOU need to explain how our security needs will be met, when YOU tear up ANZUS.

So I have answered you for the umpteenth time, now answer the one question that I have repeated with every post and this time without hurting your sensitivities.

Let's wait & see what Trump really does.

I doubt he will pull out of ANZUS.

The US set up the US base at Darwin because they want a presence in SE Asia to offset China's influence.

Australia has a conflict of interest between USA and China as USA is our defence force but China is our trading partner and is already conducting an economic invasion of Australia.

Hopefully Trumpy will ignore Shorty as just a horse brained twit and the ABC as just a defeatist Socialist Propaganda Station that needs to be pulled into line to adhere to its Public Charter.

Australia needs BOTH the USA AND China.

Malcolm will be very wary of Trump's attitude to the very important trade agreement between USA and Australia.

Wonder how Trump will trash the Greenies' Climate Heating bulldust ? Probably with a 500HP 500 cubic inch V8 powered Camaro!!!!

There should be a big market for tissues to the Lefties and Greenies!!!  Sob Sob!!!!

The Aust Share Market likes Trumpy as it rocketed up. Good to see. FOREX is all over the shop like Shorty rummaging around the bottom of the bird cage.
