Modelling is now showing a Trump Presidency and a Republican controlled house.

Today is Australia's Independence Day.

Time to scrap ANZUS, kick the americans out of Pine Gap, Dump the American bases up north, Dump Britain and become a republic ... and enter this brave new world as a grown up and independent nation.

And defend this delusion how exactly.

Or is security not a problem when you're a republic?

We will be independent for all of a week, with zero allies to maintain security of the nation; so good one champ.  Grin Grin

Australia has been caught with her knickers around her ankles and you ask me how Australia will be defended !

And how will Australia defend herself when the US is attacked under your do nothing path.

Now you're making sh1t up to cover the fact what you posted is a load of sh1t.

Just answer the questions I posted without the lies and deceptive segue.

Without a an ally or two we are dead in the water, easy prey to just about anyone needing cheap resources.

That's an opinion, and not fact based.
I didn't say we will not have allies, I am just recommend equal partner allies, rather than being the bitch of the US.

And who are we equal to and would want to be allied with us?

I presume you have thought this through and worked out hoe to defend Australia once we cut ties with our traditional allies and go out into a hostile world undefended.

States that share our values.
A good start would be regional neighbours like Indonesia and New Zealand,.

And these country have sufficient fire power to protect us from hostile forces do they?

I suggest you google search their military capabilities before you get too caught u in an alliance with them especially fkken new zealand.  Grin Grin Grin Grin

Keep trying genius, your suggestions don't quite hit the mark as appropriate allies able to provide security for Australia.

Security analysts have warned a Trump presidency could take US military forces out of the region, presenting security challenges for Australia as China flexes its muscle in the South China Sea.

How will Australia handle this new responsibility ?

Won't happen ... if the US had no bases in Australia, where would they base their troops? Or would they accept having a giant hole in their global military coverage?

Quote:
The success of rogue Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump has forced the Turnbull government into a furious recalibration of policy, from international trade agreements to crucial foreign and strategic treaty arrangements.

Quote:
During the longest and most bitterly fought campaign in US political history, Mr Trump had expressed contempt for America's security role in the world, floated the idea of giving nuclear arms to South Korea and Japan, vowed to keep North Korea and China in check, and proposed to tear up various trade agreements.

Quote:
Foreign Affairs Minister Julie Bishop struck a more cautious note, revealing Canberra remained in the dark on Mr Trump's foreign policy stances in trade and security, and could not predict what these policies would look like.

Quote:
Ms Bishop denied that the government had been caught out by American voters, while issuing a none-too-subtle call for like-minded countries to join Australia in pressuring Washington to stay engaged with the world in economic and strategic spheres.

The US is centred on growing it's economy and not being the leader of the free world.

You continually want to deflect responsibility for the defence of Australia onto others.
How about growing a pair.

Australia is more vulnerable tonight, than it has been in a while.
Because of lazy thinking, like yours.
You want to reply on the US, when the US is starting to reduce it's support.

You don't like new alliances, so how do you think we should defend ourself as the US withdraws from the region?

Perhaps nuke up and start an arms race in the region?
