As Australia was caught out yesterday, we must have a plan two, a future without the US babysitting us.
Choices include becoming neutral, picking up the pieces of US retreat and form closer ties with states that also have been left high and dry, or my personal choice : a war no more coalition. All states around the planet who will pledge a war no more future join together. Any state is challenged and then every other state rises in defence of them.
As far as militarising and the spending, we got to choose a path first, then work out how to achieve that path.
Now, if ANZUS crumbles, what do you think we should do? ANZUS has not crumbled, YOU have demanded we flush it down the toilet (check your OP), you need to tell everyone how we should maintain our sovereignty and security with out it. Also the US will not give up their main communications / spy base in the southern hemisphere, for a petulant 1 term president. They would lose too much of their own security if they did so. Something you have not considered, or I doubt you even knew, did you? Ok.Hypothetical Trump's main focus is the business of building the US economy, and not defence of Australia. What if the US pulls out of ANZUS, as a cost cutting measure. Australia must start formulating a plan B. What do you think our plan B should be? So in this hypothetical he is giving up Pine Gap the main US spy base in the southern hemisphere and communications to their nuclear submarines? Well in this hypothetical I would say we should employ the group hug philosophy and sing kumbaya, as it will never happen. YOU were the one to demand that we abandon our main security treaty ANZUS not trump and not as a hypothetical but as an actual action. So answer the question posed. That's you reply ... deflection? Since you have consistently refused to answer my initial question, I don't see why I should indulge your stupid hypothetical/ The USA will NEVER willingly give up Pine Gap. That is the answer to your cretinous hypothetical. The US are pulling out of NATO ... who would of thought that could ever happen. No plan B on the US also pulling out of the two bob ANZUS Treaty means we are going to be caught wiith our pants down again, as we were yesterday. Both old parties are old and not alert to the high risk world we now live in. No plan B is a a death wish. Australia's defence independency is a longterm solution. How we get there and what form it takes is what must be debated.
