For those who firmly believe that compulsory voting is necessary in a democracy, getting involved in discussions about US elections is pure hypocrisy

Completely irrelevant, as he's not going to be elected.

He can say anything he wants, because he knows he's headed for defeat on Tuesday.

Why is he headed for defeat?

Many reasons.

He's inexperienced.

He's a racist.

He's a misogynist.

He's admitted to sexually assaulting women.

He's a loudmouth bully.

He's been accused of raping two children.

He's suffering from a personality disorder.

He's a bloated orange douche bag.

Oh yeah, and he's also anti-globalist Fabian open border humanist, your first love of politics

Well, which do you believe is more important for electing representatives, voluntary or compulsory voting?

Compulsory voting - forces people to attend a polling station at least, whether they vote formally or not is then up to them. At least we've brought the horse to the water!

Voluntary voting tends to favour the more radical elements in any number of directions, is also more divisive due to the polarising points of view, and often forces candidates down more radical pathways chasing more radical votes.

After expressing this mouthful, do you think that the current US election would be a fair and square election, regardless of who wins or loses?

do you think if voting were compulsory the election campaign would have run the same course? Over half the campaign is about inciting the public to get up and vote, either by hook or by crook. There was very little time actually spent on real policies.

Ask RealityBites, he's the expert. I'm in favor of optional voluntary voting

I know ............. do you think wasting all that time and effort just to get people of their bums, instead of covering the real issues like POLICIES, is a good thing for the country?

No, because many of the people who wouldn't be bothered to vote in a voluntary poll would have to be wooed in a compulsory poll. Usually they are closer to the middle ground.

This is why you get the major parties in Australia who are different shades of the same colour - too close in ideas, while in the USA they are miles apart in ideology

Why would you require people to vote? The lower the turnout the more value the votes cast will have. People who confuse clowns on SNL with the real candidates shouldn't be allowed to vote and counter the votes of people who actually try to be informed!

Trump is inadequate for the job, a narcissist with an extremely thin skin. An outright liar who lives in a reality all his own.

He has pulled an impressive con on many Americans. A man who has left a dearth of debts, swindled people out of millions of dollars and convinced people he has the strength to stand up to the like of Putin and "Jhina" who coincidentally he owes hundreds of millions of dollars to.

A man who advocates and incites violence, who thinks America can handle its debt by printing more money. A man who thinks bankrupting the federal government is ok.

Who the hell would vote for this clown?

True...

And, with only the change of literally just the names, this description is also an arguably accurate summary of L Ron Hubbard.

Their similar personality disorders and their effect on Americans  reveals much about a certain American psyche.
