[Thread moved here by FD about mid-day on the 12th September, 2016. Mod.
Yesterday across a few of the Sydney terror attack thread, one particular poster dominated the discussion, not by disagreeing or adding opinion or content, but by badgering, verbling, selective and out of context quoting and generally trying to win arguments (not about content) but win the argument
about the argument through hair splitting and pedantry and personal attacks.
The effect was very clear. Exasperated posters just gave up and left.
In one of the threads about ISIS inspired attacks I posted a first person account of the absurdly heavy police presence at Bondi Beach, a location named as a terror attack target. Personally I love reading peoples first person accounts and observations.
Now I bring this up not out of hurt feelings or pride, I have broad shoulders and a clear head, but I ask, what effect does this have on the population of a discussion forum?
Would a newcomer poking their head in for a look decide to stay?
Here's an example.
Greggs new little hobby is asking what's the point of a post.
I'm really wondering if this level of trolling is conducive to a decent discussion. Seems he just wants to derail it. Should it be brought to the mods attention?
Anyway, was a nice day down at the beach today for the Kite Festival, thanks to about 20 public order and riot squad guys, mounted police and about 20 undercover SOG guys.
Whats that about $50k to keep the beach safe from Muslims?
Thanks Islam!
It seems you are all for pointless posts.
May I ask, Nadia, what is the point of making pointless posts?
Well lets see, ISIS called for attacks at Bondi Beach and I posted a first person account of the heavy police presence at Bondi today plus a photo.
More interesting content then you've ever managed in any of your 47k of posts.
We can get that from the news, Nadia.
What else you got?
I don't think the news would go into such detail about the police presence, nor would the presence of the 20 undercover SOG guys be reported. I wouldn't have known about them had it not been for the cop mate I had a coffee with telling me.
So please, if you can add some original first person content on the subject I'm sure we'd be delighted to read it.
Ah.
I'm sure there's a point to this.
Ready when you are , Gordy.
Unless you're still distracted by the thought of 12 year old girls having sex with 50 year old men, that is.
Looks like Gordy is busy with his box of tissues.
Chalk up another win for gweggy.
