I still can't get a handle on this epidemic of suicides amongst the returned soldiers. Did the WWII vets chalk up a huge suicide rate too?

Cognitive dissonance.

They are propagandized, dogmatized and trained to hate and kill people. When they come back to their homes and they are no longer allowed to hate and kill people their minds implode as they come to the realization that what they did in the ADF is not acceptable in their home environment.

I have never been a sympathiser with a person who suicides. Never has it happened in my Family, but it has happened with the brother of an old school mate of mine. Mate was in the Army (now retired Major,) and his brother, John...killed himself while still in the Army. Not sure of his rank. Seems to be an issue needing investigation.

......some are very judgmental and you can bet your grandmother they have never known someone who has killed themselves. its a huge issue 47 death in one year alone is huge...and I am not sure we are doing enough to find the whys and causes....surely someone is looking at the common denominator...as we know there wasnt an epidemic of suicides after WW11....what is going on????.....what was/is the difference....are all these suicides male???....were they all sent to the same war zones...do they only commit suicide when they return home???......someone must be looking at this very seriously...no I dont know what it is like to lose someone like this...but I would never think of them as cowards as a returned soldier.. far from it...is it our coping mechanism that is breaking down...
