No surprise at all

Latest Reuters/Ipsos poll - despite the rigging - puts Trump in the lead 40/39.

It's the undecideds who matter though
And conventional wisdom says they favour the challenger ie Trump

Ben Carson News:

Rick Santorum: 'Winds' Are Behind Trump If He Stays on Message

Former Sen. Rick Santorum believes Donald Trump is on a roll and can be the next president of the United States if he doesn't veer from his increasingly disciplined campaign.

"The winds are behind him. This is a race that Donald Trump should win," Santorum, a Pennsylvania Republican, told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Thursday.

"What Donald Trump needs to do, and I think he's proved it over last couple of weeks, [is] that he can be disciplined [and] someone we can trust to be able to execute on the things he says he wants to do."

Santorum, who ran for president in 2012 and 2016 and dropped out of the current race in February, said Trump "handled himself exceptionally well" during his trip to Mexico City on Wednesday.

And the billionaire real estate tycoon also seized the "middle ground" in his subsequent speech on U.S. immigration policy, Santorum added.

He also predicted Trump will bring non-voters to the polls this November and continue to gain more support from establishment Republicans.

LA Times national tracking poll: Trump 45  Clinton 42.
A few weeks ago Clinton had a 5 point lead. This is a huge shift in a tracking poll.

The chart, if you care to find it, says it all. Trump's line is on upward trajectory, Clinton is down down down, in a burning ring of fire.

All over red rover.

And the news for Clinton is about to get worse.  Tomorrow, Emerson College will release a spate of new polls on the state of the presidential race in New England and New Jersey — states that typically vote for the Democratic presidential candidate, and by a substantial margin.

The biggest shocker is Rhode Island, which Obama carried by 27 points in 2012.  According to the Emerson poll, Clinton leads Trump by just 3 points, well within the statistical margin of error.  And in Maine’s second district, which votes apart from the rest of the state, Trump is beating Clinton soundly, the new poll shows.

And then there’s New Jersey, a state with a sizable 14 electoral votes, which hasn’t gone Republican since 1988.   Even with Trump surrogate New Jersey governor Christ Christie’s supporting him, many analyst have considered Trump’s promise to put New Jersey “in play” in 2016 to be pure fantasy.  Christie, it’s been said, is so unpopular in his home state that his support for Trump won’t help the candidate.

Maybe not, but Emerson finds Trump within 4 points of Clinton now.  Previous polls have found Clinton with a more sizable double-digit lead, including 21 points in a poll conducted by Fairleigh Dickenson in June.  Obama carried the state handily in 2008 and 2012, by 17 and 18 points, respectively.

Spencer Kimball, who directed the latest polling for Emerson, told me that the Trump surge is real and probably growing.  His organization recently polled voters in Virginia and North Carolina and found Trump closing fast in those two states, too.
Among other Emerson findings, Trump’s winning men by a larger margin than Clinton is winning women, giving the GOP candidate the gender gap advantage.  CNN/ORC found the same result in its latest national poll – a 7 point advantage for Trump.  And voters are saying they believe Trump is more honest and trustworthy and is better able to handle the economy and terrorism.

Another unexpected factor is the African-American vote.  Emerson, alone among polling organizations, has found Trump increasing his support with a voter group that typically tilts Democratic.  Among African Americans Trump garners 15% in Virginia, 15% in New jersey, and 16% in North Carolina, according to Emerson’s recent polling.

Kimball notes that the margin of error in the polling results for “sub-groups” – about 8% – is higher than for the poll as a whole.  That means Trump’s real level of African-American support might be anywhere between about 7% and 23%.  Still, even 7-8% support is double what other recent polls have shown.

The possibility of Trump breakthroughs in New Jersey or Rhode Island should be weighed again Clinton’s own efforts to alter the electoral map.  She’s polling competitively in GOP diehard states like Georgia and Missouri, as well as Arizona.

Trump, meanwhile, is neck-and-neck or leading in states like Nevada and Wisconsin, and may even have a shot at Oregon – all of which have trended Blue in recent years.

The upshot?  Forget about what the mainstream media says.  Nine weeks out – and with three critical debates still ahead – all bets are off for who will win the presidency in 2016.

If you realize each day is a gift, you may be near my age. As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end. There will be a clear, cold morning when there isn't any "more." No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat. It seems to me that one of the important things to do before that morning comes, is to let every one of your family and friends know that you care for them by finding simple ways to let them know your heartfelt beliefs and the guiding principles of your life so they can always say, "He was my friend, and I know where he stood."
So, just in case I'm gone tomorrow, please know this: I voted against that incompetent, lying, flip-flopping, insincere, double-talking, radical socialist, terrorist excusing, bleeding heart, narcissistic, scientific and economic nice person currently in the White House! Participating in a gun buy-back program because you think that criminals have too many guns is like having yourself castrated because you think your neighbours have too many kids.

Clint did say this though-

Actor-director Clint Eastwood, while stopping short of endorsing Donald Trump, says the Republican presidential candidate is "on to something".

In an interview in Esquire magazine this month, Eastwood praises Trump as a foe of political correctness and laments what he calls "the kiss-ass generation".

Clint Eastwood says "everyone is walking around on eggshells".

Eastwood, 86, said that today "everyone is walking around on eggshells" and that claims of racism are overused.

He said that, growing up, "these things weren't called racist".
Eastwood, who spoke at the 2012 Republican convention, urged people to "get over it".

However, he acknowledged that Trump had said "a lot of dumb things".

Eastwood, who has acted in and directed more than 100 films, uttered the immortal words in Sudden Impact: "Go ahead, make my day."

His latest film Sully opens in September.

Hillary will win, and Trump will remain the loser he's always been.

Why can't you accept that fact?

I can't accept you opinion because the damned election has been on yet numptoid.

He did NOT say what Fuzzball attributed to him.

Don't change the subject, okay?

And, no matter what CLINT says, Trump will not be POTUS.

Hillary will win ... comfortably.

Oh, oh, oh morty torty, I have a question. What "Moral Decay" is that? Can you be more specific like for instance, Rick Perry being indicted on state public corruption charges? Right, that's "Obama's fault."

Florida and Ohio are no longer considered likely wins for Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, according to the latest Reuters/Ipsos States of the Nation project released on Saturday.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump surged to a 3-point lead over Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the USC Dornsife/Los Angeles Times tracking poll on Tuesday. Trump now leads Clinton 45.8% to 42.8%, his largest lead since Aug. 31 and a 4.4% spike since Sep. 11.

It keeps getting better.  Trump by a landslide.  Support is growing daily and massively......the Democrats could dig up JFK, run him as their candidate, and still lose.

You just keep praying for the impossible.  Hillary is seeing the White House in the rear view mirror, sliding out of sight.
As for the alleged child rapist....that is so shallow.  Do you think anyone with that in his past would dare to run for President?  Now compare that to madam Hillary, global rapist, who used her position to inflict mayhem in the Middle East and kill some good Americans in the process....No, the witch can hop on her broomstick - she hasn't seen Bill's in 30 years....LOL....She can turn milk to cheese....

In South Carolina where Trump leads 53/38/4/1, a poll shows him getting 26% of Blacks and 29% of Hispanics.
This is a red state so no surprise his lead, but if these minority votes or anything like them held up elsewhere there would be some surprising results.
If you remember - course you do, who could tear themselves away - I pointed out the highest Bush could get on Blacks in Florida which he won was 14%.

BTW, across a number of polls Trump is ahead +5 in Florida & Ohio and leads in Nevada, Kansas & closing even in Maine.

Washington Post:

Among Democrats, deep concern about Clinton’s Hispanic strategy

By Abby D. Phillip and Ed O'Keefe

September 18 at 4:21 PM 

Lagging support among Hispanic voters for Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton and congressional candidates in crucial races has stoked deep concern that the party and the presidential campaign are doing too little to galvanize a key constituency.

While Clinton holds a significant lead over Republican rival Donald Trump in every poll of Hispanic voters, less clear is whether these voters will turn out in numbers that Democrats are counting on to win. Clinton trails President Obama’s 2012 performance in several Latino-rich states, including Florida, Nevada, Colorado and Arizona. In those same states, on which Democrats’ prospects of retaking the Senate hinge, some down-ballot Democrats remain unknown to many Hispanic voters.

That reality has prompted a flurry of criticism of Clinton’s and the party’s Hispanic strategies. Despite a uniquely favorable environment with Trump’s repeated attacks on undocumented immigrants, Democrats are increasingly worried that the opportunity is slipping away to meet a long-standing party goal of marshaling the nation’s growing Hispanic population into a permanent electoral force. The concerns are compounded by Trump’s recent surge in several battleground states.

Trump now out to +7 in LA tracking poll.

Signs that a substantial number of blacks, especially middle class, are hitching up to the Trump wagon train.

Trump saw a 16.5 percentage-point increase in backing from African-American voters in a Los Angeles Times/University of Southern California tracking poll, up from 3.1 percent on Sept. 10 to 19.6 percent through Friday.

Meanwhile, the same poll showed Clinton’s support among that group plummeting from 90.4 percent on Sept. 10 to 71.4 percent.

Clinton’s nearly 20-point crash began Sunday, said Dan Schnur of USC. Sunday was the day Clinton was recorded collapsing while entering a Secret Service van at a 9/11 event.
