It's a shame there are so many empty seats there   Sad

yes, I think the olympics has become too elitist.

Too out of touch with most people.

there are so many sports listed now....once upon a time it was more track and field and swimming.. not your every day sport like it is now....I mean golf really!,, it puzzles me why they bring in all these professional sports  I guess we will have cricket one day...and maybe darts who knows....

it was like the shooting [females] I watched that and the audience was sparse

Tennis is also stupid. There are more than enough opportunities for tennis players.

2020 Tokyo will feature skateboarding and surfing. What's next, online gaming?

I agree do we want to watch Serena win another medal.. zzzzz...why not horse racing... Roll Eyes Roll Eyes sky diving....hot air balloon racing...egg and spoon...

I can understand if a country has a large following in a sport that isnt included... but when they introduce a new one they should remove something else...... that way people would get around to watching almost all of the events....lets face it it costs an awful lot to get to these things.. I would want to see as much as possible...now its all spread all over the country...

I am not sure anyone is a winner anymore..

Surfing, so landlocked countries are all but excluded.
I actually think it should be stripped back to the basics.

People(foreigners) have stayed away from the Rio games because of how dangerous the place is .....

& they were justified ... going by all the incidents that were occurring from the first arrivals of Olympians.

The locals are poor .... so they wouldn't be able to afford seats at Olympic events

but they were like vultures on carcasses robbing, mugging, kidnapping etc.

There's something seriously perverse about a major corporate extravaganza exclusively by and for rich elites that is basically smack bang in the middle of some seriously disadvantaged communities - but nonetheless completely shuts those people out from the eyes of the world, pretending they don't exist.

I hope the local protestors shut this depraved spectacle down.

If I was a diver I would walk away before diving into that. Even a gold medal isn't worth it.

Nobody seems to be complaining about the Venues ....  the MSM carrying on, I presume.

Surely the Olympic Village is up to scratch?

ONLY one more Gold to be attained in the Pool?

Then we get onto the REAL Olympics .... track and field.

pickpockets?
a media tent had two bullets fired through it while the media was inside, a media bus had two windows shot out as it was transporting media to an event ... this isn't a case of a few pickpockets

That's been going on long before Brazil/Rio got the Games.

oh shock horror.....what I am trying to say is if that happened in America or AUstralia the media would shut it down.. here its all highlighted gleefully...

what did we expect from such a poor nation.??????..

they have done a great job ... and all aussie do is carry on about something that really is probably an every day occurrence in Rio..

which is never on out TV sets... until a few aussies happen to be over there...

I just say dont dwell on the negatives look at the positives.. what so bad about that...

seems to me all some folks do is talk negative and seem to be pleased with it..

Rabid nonsense.

Unemployment is under 7%, and it's the 9th largest economy in the world.

I hope those Socialists and Communists who are protesting that not everyone is poor as evidenced by the Games - get grabbed off the streets and 'disappeared'.

I can't stand 'class envy'.
