To the glorification of Welfare.
One is often amazed at the stupidity of the majority of “Mr & Mrs Average Aussie”. They are maybe the most generous of people and would bend over backwards to assist a battling Aussie.
An average Aussie's life is dependent on screwing the welfare system for as much as possible over the longest possible period. They will bitch like a banshee on heat when their welfare payment is reduced by 1 single dollar, (never stand between a welfare bludger and a bucket of money) but are stupid enough to donate 10 or 20 dollars to medical research.
The welfare recipient will waste hours in line at the Centrelink Office complaining bitterly that “this waiting is seriously impacting on their leisure time”. When, at last, they do see someone they are told “go away stop wasting their our time”.
For those fortunate to be amongst the ranks of the unemployed the idea of actually looking for work is totally abhorrent, foreign to their level of understanding that someone, a tax payer perhaps, has to pay for their worthless existence. Those unfortunate enough to be actually employed are those who are not entitled for welfare anyway nor have they the slightest interest, they would rather be in the pub or surfing.
The Federal Government donated more than a billion dollars to medical research last year. Then there are the medical research institutions who go on television pleading to the viewer GIVE, GIVE, GIVE as if we are a bottomless pit of money to be blackmailed into believing they will not be able to find a cure for this or that disease.
So how STUPID is the Aussie (1). From where one sits they are as thick as two short planks. They are prepared to donate $100 or 200 because the TV advert makes them feel guilty with some cock and bull story about some person suffering an incurable disease. Then after the act of kindness they discover 90 percent of their donation has been spent on paying for the advert that suckered you in, brilliant!!! Is that stupid ?
So how STUPID is the Aussie (2). On average a person would visit the doctor 5 times a year. Had the Senate passed the Abbott Governments $7 co-payment the patient would have forked out a massive $35 a year or the maximum ceiling, whatever that was. Here is the stupidity, they happily donate $100/200 for a Television advert but are NOT willing to pay $35 into a Government controlled medical research fund that would create a whopping $25 BILLION within 4 years, enough money for every medical research institute in the country, money that would NOT be spent on television adverts begging for money.
