Dirty Paki Doctor Preyed On Mentally Ill Patients

A Newcastle GP used personal information to prey on mentally ill patients to try and start sexual relationships.

Last Friday the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal refused Nauman Zafar Khan's application to regain his medical registration, which was suspended in October last year.

Acting Judge Francis Marks lambasted the former GP's "predatory" behaviour.

"This is clearly symptomatic of predatory conduct on the part of the appellant without any concern for the impact of his behaviour on any of these persons," he said.

A psychiatrist who assessed Mr Khan warned there was an extremely high risk of him repeating his predatory action if his medical suspension was lifted.

The court heard Mr Khan tried to reach out to more than eight female patients after becoming frustrated by the long distance relationship with his wife who lives in Pakistan.

A 44-year-old woman said Mr Khan had visited her home.

When she answered the door she said Khan "was standing there with his shirt half undone".

He allegedly told her: "You know I like you … I need a sexual companion apart from my wife".

The court heard he also bombarded a 20-year-old patient suffering from anxiety and depression with hundreds of text messages.

"I have unconditional love for you," he texted her.

"If you ever want to be with me I'm ready for you … I wanted you the first time I saw you."

The woman told the Health Care Complaints Commission that she had felt "violated," Fairfax Media reported.

She eventually replied to Mr Khan's advances with: "Just tell me what you want with me?"

"The consultations with (Mr Khan) and his contact with me has made me feel violated and my personal life invaded," she said.

"The way he was being persistent and forceful, asking me why I wouldn't see him, frightened me."
