IMHO, the importance of Trump's recent visit to Britain should not be underestimated. He may have well galvanised enough public opinion to tip the balance.
He supported the British exit from the EU some time back.
He was derided at the time, but his support, as opposed to both Obama's and Shillary's commentary, hits a high note for all those in favour of an emerging nationalism. Think Farage, Hanson, Johnstone, Trump.
Any country with an 'open borders' programme is now on the defensive, ourselves included.
Trump's talk of a wall against Mexican illegals is starting to resonate, just like our own 'stop the boats' policy. The same is true of a number of other EU members. The Nordic countries spring to mind - rape has become an issue as a result of increased, unmonitored immigration.
Of course, the EU will object to this abandonment because Britain remains an economic and trade powerhouse while ever it remains and when it leaves. All it needs to do is renegotiate some trade deals and business will resume as normal.
The power-brokers and their media empires will scream, of course, because the plebeians will be construed as beginning to break their chains.
The West, and hopefully Christendom, is on the rise.
The Left are left to suck lemons.
