UK leaving EU
Jun 24th, 2016 at 1:00pm

Well poll results are coming in, and while still early, it looks like a shock win for the leave camp. As usual in Britain, the polls have been horribly wrong.

Where to for the UK from here? Politically, the first order of business will be the resignation of Cameron (whether forced or voluntary). I expect that to happen within days. Also the torries may very well split after this.

What about the economy? Well first Britain has to actually exit first - this is just a referendum to guage "the people's" opinion. But one would assume negotations for an actual exit will follow shortly. And then? UK will have to negotiate new trade deals I guess. I wouldn't be surprised actually if the negotations with the EU that follow will make for such a watered-down "Brexit" - that not a lot will really change. Its likely that things like travel and immigration arrangements won't be a lot different.

Also, pound has already seen its largest drop since 2008.

"A victory for ordinary, decent people!" Nigel Farage, just now.

The political elites, the Eurocrats, the money manipulators and other parasites are all shitting themselves. Listening to the media they are mostly distraught by the result, already predicting doom and gloom economically.

Too soon to tell Gandalf.

Anyway, even if the vote goes Leave, Plan B sees legal manouvres by Brussels to negate the vote.

Wow. You really think Cameron will go?

I agree that there will be a watered down Brexit, but this decision will probably take other countries out - especially Denmark, who only joined the EC to trade with Britain.

In the end, Britain's departure will probably only prove symbolic for Britain, but this symbolism will take others out of the EU too.

That's right. Because as we all know, the EU can overrule sovereign laws and legal rulings, popular elections, and now, popular referenda.

The EU will just order Britain to stay in, ja?

Interestingy enough, upon entry, both Britain and Denmark negotiated an exemption agreement with the EU regarding retaining their own currencies.

No, Britain will keep its migration treaties. All those Poles and Romanians will stay. The sentiments the exit campaign honed in on will be proved null and void. Those Gypsies aren't going anywhere.

Alas, Aquascoot, Mother won't be returning to the 18th century any time soon.
