So. You are just stirring the pot?

I have owned my home outright since 1996 ... so rent free for 20 years.

A lot of Romanians benefited when communism fell. During communism, they were all cashed up, with nothing to buy. Supermarkets were quite often empty.  When communism fell they were able to buy their abodes at bargain prices. My in-laws, and many of the wife's side of the family, all bought their homes for cash.

Their mistake was in not buying more than one when they could. Today, it's a very different market and much much more expensive.

The whole point of posting the link is that I'm VERY surprised at which countries have most home-ownership, while the likes of Australia, Germany, and Britain are a goodly way down the list.

WHAT accounts for this, I wonder?

Hmmm ... interesting.

I'll see if I can't dredge-up the articles about how a lot of Romanians simply signed on for various government benefits in the UK - and then returned home to sit on their arse as 'Overseas' recipients of Britain's welfare system.

"He said: “It’s coming in benefits. It’s like free money, thank you England.” The situation was last night labelled a “national scandal” and an insult to hard-working families after figures showed £30million in child benefits was sent from Britain to 20,400 families in other European countries in 2012-13".

Ummm Herb

If you believe anything this loathsome Abo dole bludger has just told you about property in Romania....then you're a gullible fool.

Absolutely everything he's stated is false and based on nonsense. He has no experience in buying/owning property in Australia and even less knowledge and experience re buying/owning property in Romania.

My humblest apologies Herb....this topic is titled ABSOLUTE NONSENSE.

Hence the absolute nonsense the fool is posting. He's ontopic. For once. Roll Eyes
