H bombs are ridiculous & should be outlawed.

Well, that all depends on whether the US will allow England to maintain a nuclear arsenal in the event of the UK's demise.

India is now, and will increasingly be, a more important member of a reformed security council than England.

England's permanent membership could quickly become an embarrassment and irritation to the other permanent members and potentially permanent members like India and Brazil.

Russia didn't even lose its seat when half of its population broke away with the the fall of the Soviet Union. How the hell does England lose its seat because less then 10% of its population want to break away?

I don't even know how the potential of Scotland breaking away will result in England losing its seat on the security council. There is no logic in that at all.

Well now that the UK is leaving the EU, the EU have more chance of getting France's seat than the UK's. (And I can't see that happening this side of the EU becoming the federation of Europe, with EU nations becoming states of the Union.)

What do you imagine England would do in the event it was removed from the P5? Use the weapons?

Where are you getting this from? There has been nothing to suggest that the UK will lose its seat. Last year there was a vote for Scottish independence and at no point was this considered an issue.

It's like you have thought up a possible issue and are now arguing for it like it is a major talking point in political circles. This isn't even on the radar.

It's more amazing that you think that Russia, China, France, and the USA are already embarrassed by the UK and looking to get rid of them. As if somehow the UK and the USA never see eye to eye and the USA is always in agreement with China and Russia Roll Eyes

. I'm sure France and the USA can't wait to turn on their NATO partner and get Brazil in there...

The UK parliament has already been researching the possible fallout from Scottish independence and exit from the EU in terms of the UK's position as a P5 member.

Of course it won't happen soon but, as England becomes increasingly irrelevant, the prestige of the UN Security Council will be diminished by England's presence as a P5 member.
