Swear word filter
Jun 18th, 2016 at 11:58am

I'm sorry to start this thread here, but there are a lot of us who are blocked from Feedback for no obvious reason and can't offer our opinion there.

Ozpolitic has thrived all these years simply because there was a swear word filter which moderated those who have a limited vocabulary. Yes people can get around it, but it requires a little effort which is a deterrent for some.

The C word will be thrown around with abandon to attack other members and Ozpolitic will be trashed.

Removing the filter will seriously lower the standards here and you could see half the membership go overnight. Who wants to read posts filled with expletives?

bugger it, people should post what they like.

You have to be some kind of arrogant to think that your moral standards are superior and should be conformed to.

No one has to agree and people will be judged by their posting,,, so be it.

Thanks Aussie, but I can't find the thread. It doesn't matter in the scheme of things. If Ozpolitic wants to say goodbye to even minimum standards of behaviour - then that's the choice of the admin here. It will be just another trashy site where you have to sift through the swearing and abuse to find out what they're talking about.

It works both ways. You have to be arrogant if you think the general population wants to see the contents of an empty, illiterate mind splashing out filth on what was once a clean forum.

I don't like how YouTube is full of profanity from illiterate people.

I doubt that Ozpolitic would descend that much if swear words were allowed.

Maybe - just try it for a while?

I don't mind things like FFS, or BS, but some DO cross the line.

Obscene family attacks concern me more.
