This is not a correlation does not equate causation scenario. The reality is that he calls up, pledges allegience to IS, and then goes ahead and kills 50 people and injures another 50 or so. He wasn't doing it because bananas are yellow. It is quite clear why he did it.

I'll go with the logical choice here. You go with the 'It's anything but' choice. This is the same argument as christians use to prove god. Absence of prove isn't prove. What we know is he swore allegiance to ISIS. He is a muslim who subscribes to the ISIS view of Islam and the world.
