I have always been led to believe that any one who does not join the union should not be allowed to benefit from the rewards the union works for..

Every worker benefits from the work of Unions.

As I said in my post above: you don't have to be a Union member to be covered by a Union Agreement.

It's illegal to force someone to join a Union.

Indeed it works both ways. Non-union workers don't have to pay dues or strike (and lose pay) and yet gain the benefits of improved EBA after union negotiations.
