Turnbull is shitting his pants!

He has declined to appear on the Sky News Leaders Debate after Bill kicked his arse last time.

He cant handle dealing with an audience asking awkward questions.

Malcolm Turnbull says he hopes to hold a third leaders’ debate with Bill Shorten next week, using as many media platforms as possible. He is calling it the first “online leaders’ debate.”

He has also criticised Sky News for demanding that he attend its people’s forum on Wednesday night in Brisbane rather than inviting him to attend.

Had Sky invited him to attend, he said, it would have given him the opportunity to come to “some arrangement” with the broadcaster – rather than just accepting the event’s format on the network’s terms.

The prime minister confirmed on Tuesday that he planned to debate Shorten a third time. But he wanted the third debate to be seen by as many people as possible.

He would like it to be streamed live over Facebook, news websites, and picked up by any television broadcaster that wants to take it.

He said the format of the two debates he has already had with Shorten – a Sky people’s forum on 13 May and the traditional Press Club debate on 29 May – belonged to a pre-smartphone, pre-social media era, and he wants the third debate to be modern.

“The aim would be for this debate, this discussion, to be streamed across any platform that sought to do so,” he said. “So over Facebook, news.com.au sites, broadcasters who wanted to take it, to get it as widely available as possible.”

“Let’s have the third one in an innovative way and that every Australian can participate in.”

He said he would not take part in Sky’s people’s forum on Wednesday - even though Bill Shorten will be attending - and he criticised Sky News for neglecting protocol and then pressuring him to attend.

“Sky News announced they were inviting me and Bill Shorten to attend a debate on a particular night,” he said. “What we’ve said, normally you would have approached us and sought to come to some arrangement.

Apparently he has decided on an uncontested debate run by News Limited and Facebook. Proves he cant interact well with awkward questions from Joe Public!!

MALCOLM Turnbull and Bill Shorten will go head-to-head in the first online leaders’ debate to be hosted by news.com.au and Facebook.

The Prime Minister put out the challenge to Mr Shorten to join him in the debate when speaking to reporters at Picton, in Sydney’s west, this afternoon.

The Opposition Leader has accepted the challenge, saying he was “happy to debate Mr Turnbull any time, anywhere”.

Mr Turnbull said the news.com.au Facebook Live format would enable millions of Australians to participate in real time on smartphones and other devices.

“We have reached agreement with, subject to Mr Shorten participation, with Facebook and news.com.au to hold the first online leaders’ debate,” Mr Turnbull, who is pushing for the debate to be held early next week, said.

“These are the platforms that many people, many would say most Australians, see most of their media on, most of their news, and I think it’s important that we have an innovative election and that we use the platforms that Australians use.

The Senate is going to be even more Independents and neither Party will have "control".

I am in Canberra, and even people I know who are rusted-on ALP are threatening to vote INFORMAL and ALA in the Senate.

Exactly. I'll probably end up voting independents (for the first time ever) in both house as more of a protest vote as I don't like Shorten or Turnbull. My local candidates aren't great either.

If by mob you mean Turnbull, then I agree. I found that most Liberal votes liked Abbott whereas most detest Turnbull.

Turnbull has lost the Liberal base although hopefully (for his sake) has picked up more of the middle ground.

Time will tell.
