I doubt armpit has ever been on a construction site Cheesy Cheesy ... his idea of a hard hat is the bike helmet his mum makes him wear when he walks to the shop

It may seem over-the-top, but it makes sense if you stop with the left-wing, everyone-hates-unions faux outrage and actually think about it. Those hard hats aren't usually painted black or other hard-to-see colours. They're usually white, orange or yellow so that the wearer is as visible on worksites as possible, just like wearing safety vests. When you start putting stickers all over the hats, they become less visible, placing the wearer in more danger. So this order is entirely justifiable.

Already explained it to him once.

But, like the hats themselves, it went over his head.

Yeah, I know, but like some dogs, you have to take some people through the lesson more than once.

If I'd had a couple of doggy-bix I would have offered him one as a reward.

Its about being in a union and nothing else ,BECHTEL tried this on with us in 2010 but soon backed down

Sorry, no. Got nothing to do with Freedom of Association. No one is making workers end their Union membership. They're just being told to remove the stickers for safety reasons. I reckon this hat below has maybe four or five percent left that isn't covered by a sticker. Not much red left to be seen, is there???

Some of the insurers won't risk the glue used on the stickers affecting the plastic in the hat. Removing the stickers doesn't sound that onerous to comply with what seems to be quite reasonable.

All of ours have reflective tape on them and the clients logo, all stickers , is their glue different to union glue ?

Reflective tape is one thing, other stickers that have zero to do with improving the visibility of the hard hat wearer shouldn't even be on the hat.

How much of a high-vis vest do you think a crane operator sitting above the street can see, or workers a couple of floors up? Gawd, you're daft.

is it just me?.. but we see fairly reasonable thread destroyed by personal comments that  have nothing whatever to do with the topic at hand..

why is that???...why is it people cannot discuss in a reasonable fashion when they disagree on something every thread ends up like this..

take a look at the comment above.. what on earth did Ap say to deserve that????..

nothing he said that I have read IS AS BAD AS THAT COMMENT.. its bad enough to be reported..

dont worry I wont,.. I will let the judges on the forum decide.. I know what I think..

AP whos name is armchair -Politician quite a reasonable name for this forum.. not armpit which the juveniles amongst us seem to relish as if it give AP hives or something..

' how about your forum members do a bit of growing up..

you bring down the level of this forum over and over again.... its isnt hard just treat people with the same respect you would like to be treated with...

and referring to others as if they are no better than a dog... just because you dont agree.. and just because you have the backing of the usual people who have nothing to add to a debate other than to bait  the person who happens to be  flavour of the day... Angry

someone accuses AP of never being on a construction site... wouldnt that apply to most on here???>... even more so in the last 5 or 6 years.....

we have a thread where a person was sacked for helping himself to the bosses coffee.. which wasnt supplied for him... he claimed they were friendly so he thought he had the right..

it was suggested that attitude was wrong  no he didnt have the right to help himself..

surely the same approach is here.

the men were ona construction site.. something that they were only entitled to do if they were employed by the construction company..

and the company makes the rules...doesnt matter if its about coffee or stickers.. the company that owns the business makes the rules..and they say no stickers.. then that has to be it.. Roll Eyes

what is so hard about that?....

why does it have to turn into a DOG fight?. Angry Angry Angry
