Alligator

When in the US I tried alligator about 4 times.

First 3 times I found it was tasteless and a strange texture. Didn't like it.

The last time it was full of garlic and was really yummy.

Conclusion, tasteless meat. Good with spice and garlic. It depends how it is cooked.

Be aware that the use of spices and hot chillis was once all about hiding the rancid smell and foul taste of un-refrigerated meats during the Middle Ages.

Wild Rabbit

Mother used to make rabbit stew using good old Keens curry (I miss Keens curry)
Used to go shooting and would cook rabbit over the fire or in alfoil.

Love Rabbit. Not too gamie. Great roasted or in a stew. can be a little dry.

Would choose it anytime.

To die for. Prepared correctly you can't tell it from chicken.

Can't stand turkey, brains, sheeps' eye-balls, pigs' trotters, ox-tail /ox-tongue, bulls' balls, snake, lightly wok-fried toilet insects, snails, frogs' legs, birds-nest-soup, calamari rings, jellied eels, shark fin soup, horse meat, whale meat, dog meat, cat meat, guinea pigs, caviar .... etc.

Likes ... anchovies, dried and salted octopus, mussels, duck eggs, prawns, etc

I had snake in China, it does taste like chicken. I was the only westerner to try it that day... wimps.
It came in a soup with thin strips. Really good.

Cooked a snake we killed when on a boy scout survival camp. It was like eating the neck of a chicken.

Not much useful meat on a snake, at least not the Yellow Belly Black we ate that day.

We used to live half way up Clear Water Bay road in Hong Kong during the early '50's. One day my brothers and I heard this noise of a large crowd approaching from up the road, and then around the corner they all came, chatting excitedly and in a jubilant mood.

In the midst of them, about five men were carrying this enormous python ...

The three of us used to play far up into those hills on our own at least once a fortnight. We could have fitted very nicely into that python's elongated stomach ...

Growing up I was horrified that people actually ate Yabbies etc from local waterways.

As I grew and emerged from my Mother's dodgy influence I certainly changed my mind though.
