Not really bizarre.

Astounding ignorance exists everywhere, even in religion.

In some cases, especially in religion.

Look at ian, for example, and his belief in Scientology.

At least there's only 25000 of the silly buggers in the world, 2000 odd in Australia.

I've never heard anyone called a raciest or xyz_phobic for criticizing Scientology. I think both religions are equally a big load of rotting pustulous bullcrap.

If there were 100x the amount of Scientologists in Australia, I'd be posting about their nonsense every day.

So do I, but I don't have an irrational fear or hatred of either of them.

Their religions are silly, but I live and let live.

I'm tolerant.

Islamophobes are intolerant.

Do you think there is a fair bit of intolerance within Islam?

Absolutely.

All religions have a fair bit of intolerance.

That's no reason for me to hate or fear every Scientologist, Christian, or Muslim on earth, though.

I just choose not to join their religion, and continue to live and let live.

Look if you prefer the ISIS style burning man over a secular celebration of hedonism and art, that's fine.

Different strokes....

I prefer secular celebrations.

I've made that crystal clear:

Gordy: "I think both religions are equally a big load of rotting pustulous bullcrap."

Greg: "So do I".

I'm sure we have some overlapping views but a very different approach on how to actually deal with them.

I believe Australia should be promoted as a secular immigration destination.

Please bring your yummy food, interesting dances, world music. If you want to wear your burqa or hijab on a cultural holiday, splendid.

But just know there will be no space made for your sky-daddery nonsense. If that doesn't suit you, put a map of the world on your wall and you'll find more than enough places to accommodate your beliefs.

I'm fine with that, as long as it applies to all religions.

Agreed?

I don't believe Australia should be promoted as an anything immigration destination.

We've had decades in a growth phase, but there has been no consolidation phase.

How do you think another coupla million people, no matter what race or religion, will positively impact your life?

I'll correct my wording and say we should be 'known' as a secular immigration destination. I'm very much in the sustainable population camp.
