half your luck. I got dragged to a 'stop the barnevernet' protest march in Brisbane.
Someone had to make sure wifey dearest didn't get lost
I've just got no comment on that
neither have I. A good cause, but in my opinion, they ruined it by making it religious.
I guess Norway must be so good they have nothing left to do?
Nah, my wife says (this is her cause, not mine) that they are worse than the communists she grew up with. ... the barnevernets funding depends on how many kids get displaced. All the solicitors, psychologists and social workers that oversee everything are all 'in house' which means that the barnevernet is accountable to no one. Norway has more people working for the barnevernet than it has police officers, and each one knows that their funding depends on how many kids they remove. This will end up Norways 'stolen generation.
Some of the reasons given for removing kids from their families are
- bread was sliced to thick
- Omelette wasn't to the social workers standard
- kids were overheard singing a religious song so parents accused of 'religious indoctrination'
- Dad was charged with some misdemeaner as a 13 yr old, so when he had a kid 10 years later, he was deemed unfit
The barnevernet itself admits only 10% of kids removed were done so because of abuse.
