So what do you reckon?
"Older singles prefer a new pet to a new partner: Only 6% of single middle-aged people want to start a new relationship" link Perhaps that is why they are single.
They are all ex-married singles.
And let's be honest here - the VAST majority of women do not like sex after having the third child, but go along with it in a perfunctory sort of way just to get the Old Man off their back, so to speak. (I could have phrased that a little better).
And so, through divorce or early death of the husband, the woman finds herself highly relieved that she's no longer obliged to suffer his annoying 'attentions' in the bedroom.
Hence, when I asked FIVE women living alone in my neighbourhood about how they feel about getting a new partner - they ALL, with raised voices, said "NO SHAGGING WAY, MATE! - AND YOU CAN PUT THAT BACK IN YOUR PANTS - AAAAARSEHOOOOOLE!!!"
Well, they didn't have to be so rude, but one has to live in hope, doesn't one?

Hmmmm ... ?
