That's good to hear, considering that's exactly what's meant to happen.

The problem with the LIberal fanbois' obsession with lowering penalty rates is that they forget the concept of quid pro quo. Something for something. They want to take the quid off the workers and offer no quo in exchange.

And don't mention more employment, that's a specious argument.

There has to be something real offered so existing employees are not worse off. 20% more pay? Right of refusal of shifts without repercussions? Payment of a retainer to all casual staff? 40% casual loading? Downward pressure on casualisation?

No, it seems that the fools want to remove penalty rates and in exchange offer ... NOTHING.

Not if you don't work..... only when you do work.  Don't allow your reasoning to stall at a mid-point in the discussion issue.

I'm waiting to see what happens come Easter....

of course there is ... if you hadn't had to pay penalty rates, you'd be asking your employees to work on those public holidays while YOU took the day off.

Then? No. Of course not. Penalty rates aren't paid to the people who stay home on a public holiday. That would be ridiculous.

However, for those that are required to work on a public holiday, penalty rates are paid.

They are paid as compensation for working unsocial hours (when most other people are off work and school for the day).

You don't really know much about penalty rates, do you?

Who's running that HR department. It's true that wages and productivity are closely linked but the growth in productivity comes from the employer rather than the employee.

Probably thought she sounded intelligent suggesting it , we naturally had to be diplomatic whilst thinking we must be doing a fantastic job if she cant suggest a thing  Grin
