I did read it and a lot of the contributors at Whirlpool are very knowledgeable and work in this field.

Next summer with more nodes and more subscribers per node (assuming Malcolm doesn’t get a rush of common sense to the head) there will be many nodes shut down or operate at minimum level in the heat. Larger cabinets would have been better.

I did read of cabinets failing and the various techs I talked to all said the heat exchanger can only cope up to a certain temperature.

Will not affect me, I have no intention of subscribing to FTTN.

That is a very UNNECESSARY OBSERVATION and didn't need you to interfere with the  Lips Sealed it ......  plus who the bugger are you to tell me what I can say or do?

how about you make the claim that the average worker is WORSE OFF in the 30 years since that statement. Then WE can laugh at you as per the photo.

Casualisation of the Australian workforce is rising, permanent full-time jobs are getting scarce. Millions of Australians don't have work that's stable enough to get a bank loan, far more than 30 years ago, both in absolute numbers and as a percentage of the work force.

Trickle down is a MYTH.

How about you quote ACTUAL FIGURES, because unemployment is far lower than back in the 70s and house ownership is still the highest in the world. Permanent jobs getting scarce? WHAT RUBBISH! The 'job for life' has certainly gone, but thats no loss to a worker with any skills.

I do love the silly statement that less people are getting bank loans now IN ABSOLUTE NUMBERS than 30 years ago.

You are your own worst enemy with foolishness like that.

Why should I waste my time pandering to you when you never, ever provide links to support your own figures, which more often than not turn out to be made-up nonsense?

What happened to the wealth divide during the mining boom? It GREW. So much for that. Where did this supposed wealth go? Here's a clue.

...

You can try to prove that trickle down works, but you would be lying if you did. Because you can't make any credible argument, you don't bother. That's why you spend all your time sniping at others and behaving like a bridge full of trolls with machine guns.

And if you want "actual figures", you need to go and spend about three weeks replying to a couple of thousand requests for you to provide your own figures in hundreds of threads going back several years. You've got a lot of work to do, so get busy. Chop chop!!

Bah.

Here is a nice post from Whirlpool:

Quote:
The problem with passive/fan type of cooling is that the temperature inside the cabinet will never get below the outside ambient temperature which means the electronics will have cope with temperatures of 40C+ degrees.

To keep the FTTN working in high temperatures

1. The electronics will be of high quality (military grade) expensive.
2. The speed get throttled back and maybe to a point where they shut down.
3. The cabinets use refrigerated cooling also expensive.

All not very nice options.

When designing a system and its critical you have to design for the worst possible conditions so the cabinets to operate at 50C degrees.

P.S. When Tasmania was connected to the national electricity the major power sub station was only designed to operate up to 35C degrees, first hot day came along and the sub station shutdown.

Another problem I have heard that's blowing out the cost of the NBN installation are the electrical requirements for the cabinets. Each power company has their own standards for connecting the power to the cabinets and the power companies have been known to change their standards from time to time. If the power company changes the power requirements after the job is completed, the job has to be done again. This alone is adding billions of dollars to the cost of the NBN rollout.

It is one of the great failures of self-regulation that we're going to hear more about in the future.

This is why I am strongly in favour of a single set of consistent national standards in various areas. A single set of national standards is much easier to comply with than a set of state-based standards, or, worse, a large set of company-based standards that are imposed by unelected company officials and that have no consistency or obvious reasoning behind them and no obvious timetable for revision.

True, powering the nodes is another whole problem and source of extra costs and delay.

Nothing about the MTM makes sense.

Really?

So why is it that when business is booming, wages grow, unemployment declines, tax revenues that pay for the pensioners, public services and the down trodden ones, go up?

Huh

you can thank the unions for that one

Wages grow because the demand for labour increases.  Higher demand and a reducing supply of labour pushes up the price of labour (wages).

Just ask yourself "are things better for individuals during economic booms or economic depressions".

Then try and deny 'trickle down'  Huh

So your entire evidence is s single post which has such stellar insights that the inside of the cabinet will never be cooler than the outside? Is that some kind of discovery to him?

The only evidence that can support your stupid claim is actual examples of heat-related failures en masse. Other than that, you are obviously lying.

You DO realise “Trickle down” refers to something else entirely, Swag? I never had a high opinion of your intelligence or knowledge but here you are hopelessly wrong. I suggest you grab a Kit Kat and do some reading because you are coming across as a Village Id iot.
