Those that support throwing money at the war machine, just for the sake of it ... where were they when the coalition were attacking our ability of soft diplomacy via ABC's asian network?

How come only noisy subs and dud fighters are the only arrow's in the coalition's quill?

Return and lift funding to the ABC and SBS ... and give back the Asian Network to the ABC.

There is a massive arms build u in our art of the world and you want us to invest in a K-Pop radio station instead of advanced weapons systems to protect our country.

How the fkk do you even tie your laces to go to the dole office and get your handout?

Defence is defence ... warmongering is not defence.

By using all means available, including diplomacy, direct and soft, we can have the biggest bang for our bucks.

To devalue diplomacy, shows your lack of understanding behind human behaviour and the economics that underpin our way of life.

To cut spending to organisations like CSIRO. To try and make higher education a luxury item.

So many actions of the coalition to weaken Australia and to save money, so to throw the cash back so to make the military sector fat and lazy.

"the best defence is a good offence".  Or are you the last ignoramus not to know that? Why do you think countries dont attack the USA? Because of their defences or because they will get blown to hell if they try?

The best defence is interconnection. By drawing out our similarities and our showing combined future, we can then put our war toys aside and move on.
Soft diplomacy is one of the ways to achieve this end. The ABC's Asian Network was a vital part ... until the coalition's ideological war on the ABC killed it.

Meanwhile Australia's current plan is to enter a arms race with a region which will have 80% of the world's economy in a few decades. An arms race is a sure bet loss for Australia (and the US).

"Peace in our time"

Some people do not learn from history,

Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

Peace in our time requires different behaviours, based on critical thinking.

The F-16 is one of the best multi-role fighter jets ever made AND it's a single engine aircraft AND it doesn't possess stealthy technology like the F-35 does.

But the F35 is a flying brick -

it can't turn - & it can't climb faster than a tiger moth.

You're a real bullshit artist, you know that? The Cessna I learned to fly in climbs faster than a Tiger Moth. Oh, and the F-35 turns quite well, actually. You don't have a clue what you're talking about - just parroting the crap spewed by the opponents of the F-35 without giving it any thought yourself. You're pretty gullible.

I picked that up about Bobby months ago. He is extraordinarily gullible. Definitely a single-engine brain.

And you've never heard of hyperbole -  fool!

Nice try, but your ignorance on almost every topic is legendary.  You only learned after-the-fact that the F35 can actually go VERTICAL for brief periods. Try that in a tiger moth.

Longy/Maria,
just sell your fibro dump in Adelaide before property crashes
& stay out of technical discussions.

Have you ever even been in a plane, nevermind in the cockpit?  All you EVER DO is swallow whatever garbage out there because you are very gullible and horribly ignorant.  A dope wouldnt have said what you did.

Coming from a genius like you, that's a bit rich isn't it?

I doubt you have dealt with anything more technical then setting up record on your PVR and even that would have been a challenge for you.

You have never worked on or with fast jets, so let's leave your 'expertise' out of this shall we.

Maria lives in Sydney, Bobbie. She drives a Camry. Hubbie drives the Merc. She won't say where she's from.

It's Longy who lives in Adelaide, poor thing. What do people actually do there?

Oh, that's right - start a multi-million dollar small business from nothing and write award-winning fiction, better that Hemmingway.

He's that good.

I think Longy/Maria should come clean & admit who he really is.

No one believes his rubbish.

Was reading from this website
http://theaimn.com/49628-2/

excerpt from link:

“I don’t see it as a choice,” Defence Minister Marise Payne tells Leigh Sales, on Thursday’s 7:30 Report when asked why her government is borrowing to spend up to $150 billion to acquire and run twelve new submarines at $12.5 billion a pop over thirty years while denying schools and hospitals the $80 billion they need to keep open today.

Payne does not explain why the cost is now three times the estimate of the government when Tony Abbott was PM. The new vibe helps Payne assert a moral relativism that sweeps defence spending out of scrutiny.

Payne isn’t asked to explain why there is no case for this number. It is just a target from the 2009 White Paper which has just been repeated. We can’t crew twelve subs and Defence probably could only deploy six. Nor is she asked about the consequences of a likely winning Japanese bid tying our defence policy to that nation at the expense of any independence in the Pacific.

Five state of the art $2.5 billion hospitals could be built for the cost of just one sub subsidy. But it’s not just a troubling priority, it’s a huge blind spot in government industry policy.  Submarine building, like all defence spending, involves massively expensive industry subsidies however many Australian flags you cloak it in.

Having closed down Australia’s car industry the government scrambles to tip buckets of money into an industry just because it is marked “defence”.  Few Australians will benefit.

Seems puzzling.

What is puzzling is 'closed down australias car industry. The writer seems to forget that three of the 5 manufacturers clsoed shop under labor and the other two decided to leave under labor and announced it weeks after the last election. It was in fact LABOR who closed down the car industry.

I wonder why Maria isn't wondering at the increased cost/estimates of the submarines.
