If they're over 18 I would hope they go to the chemist. No body is saying drugs would be available to minors except the people that lack common sense.
Minors need ID up to the age of 25 to access alcohol and cigarettes OTHER  drugs would be no different. Roll Eyes

I quite agree. Now as for the retards who give their kids alcohol cigarettes and other drugs; how do you stop it?

I would think it was a very small percentage of people that give their kids booze fags or other drugs so small you will never stop it. You can't fix dumb.
This discussion is about kids dying at dance parties and people are being penalised in their life for using recreational drugs.
A mate of mine has a son that is 21 and he was recently in hospital after dropping fifteen ekkies, the kids reasoning was he didn't know how strong the pills were so he kept dropping them. If ecstasy was a controlled substance people would know how much was needed to get " high " just like they know how many beers they need to get drunk.
I'd prefer our kids to know they can drop two or three pills and get out of it instead of playing Russian roulette with backyard mixes that they have no idea of the contents.
Prohibition DOES NOT WORK NEVER HAS NEVER WILL. It is time for a reality check and to keep our kids alive as the current laws are killing our kids.

Well said, Skip!  Smiley

I agree

You really are an imbecilic arsewipe if you honestly think that. As a father of two young boys, that's the last thing I'd ever want. Grow a brain, phuckwit. Angry

As the father of a thirteen year old It is exactly what I want. I'm not stupid enough to think kids don't take drugs if those drugs are controlled we know how much is in them. If they are not a kid could drop one Ekky and die or drop fifteen and not.
As for you mindless abuse I'll let a mod deal with that.

so if your 13 yr old says hey dad I am going to an allnight rage tonight they are selling legal drugs at the door...I might check them out you will be ok with that?...because they have been approved by the govt.

MY 13 year-old wouldn't be GOING to any all-night raves under any circumstances.

Boundaries and limits, remember them?

But at 16, and provided it was only cannabis - no problem.

However, if they DID get hold of something else, I'd damned-well want some testing facilities available.

I would NOT want them harassed by uniformed bullies with dogs - that achieves nothing.

I feel sorry for your daughter having such a brain dead parent. You're ok with her using cannabis and othrr drugs if they're tested. NEWSFLASH: YOU CAN'T TEST DRUGS LIKE ECSTASY WITHOUT DESTROYING THE TABLET!!! What would you expect? They test 10 and the other 99 tablets are untested? Worst parent of the century goes to Kat!!!

Not true. Did you see the drug report on Four Corners last Monday night? Obviously not, otherwise you would have seen a demonstration of drug testing in action. They took a knife, pared off a few shavings from one tablet, and dropped it in the testing chemicals. The colour gave a good indication of whether the tablet had contaminants and if it had the active ingredient. The rest of the tablet remained intact and could be consumed.

One thing I don't agree with is providing "shooting galleries".

I'd rather licensed, commercial operations that source and test product, and provide a setting for users, not just a shed where any old nice person can come and use any old gear.  In attaining a license, they assume responsibility for their patrons.

You can't bring your own piss to a pub, so why should you be able to bring your own heroin to a shooting gallery?

Pubs sell alcohol to earn money. Safe injection facilities are not there to earn money.

Someone is making money off it.  Might as well be legit.

Not unreasonable, but it depends on how this is done. Would they be available from a chemist under prescription, like methadone? Perhaps the chemist and injecting room are together in the same premises?

Cods - sorry, it was not Turkey, it is Portugal.

Quote:
.........Drug use has declined overall among the 15- to 24-year-old population, those most at risk of initiating drug use, according to Transform.

There has also been a decline in the percentage of the population who have ever used a drug and then continue to do so:..........

.........HIV infection rates among injecting drug users have been reduced at a steady pace, and has become a more manageable problem in the context of other countries with high rates, as can be seen in this chart from a 2014 report by the European Monitoring Center for Drugs and Drug .......................

In holland ..........

Quote:
..........In practice, this means that addicts are allowed to inject or smoke heroin three times a day in a solemn, no frills room in a building run by municipal health services.

Combined with a specified care program, it has been responsible for almost the complete disappearance of heroin addicts from public view.

In the United States, heroin is on the rise like it's 1983, while an ever-shrinking group of Dutch addicts is only getting smaller and older.

In a 2002 study, there were an estimated 25,000 addicts in the Netherlands (out of a population of more than 10 million), but only about 2,000 were considered hardcore addicts, according to the Central Committee on the Treatment of Heroin Addicts.

Heroin use under the age of 40 is practically non-existent, according to Amsterdam's health services........

..............Criminal behavior among the group has plunged since the start of the program......

...........Crime has plunged in neighborhoods where heroin use was endemic. Users have less trouble with the law, and their lives have stabilized and improved. ...........

Alcohol is legal. Legal drinking age - 18.
Tobacco is legal. Legal smoking age - 18.

Where do you get the idea that kids would be allowed to buy legal drugs if drugs that are already legal cannot be bought by them?

And banning alcohol and tobacco for under 18s means they don't do it?

Prohibition has always proven to be useless.
Kids will take ecstasy and other drugs if they are legal or illegal, at least if they are legal we can ensure they are safe for consumption.
It's a no brainer, unless you have no brains. Roll Eyes

Drugs safe for consumption is an oxymoron. And why should people who don't take drugs care about those who are stupid enough to take them?

I saw a story on (I think, unless it was a different program) A Current Affair this week about people taking ice and seeking rehabilitation somewhere around the Central Coast. The ice-addicts were talking about how addicted they were and how they desperately needed help. I didn't hear one of them criticse themselves for taking the drug in the first place. Going on like victims, when they did it to themselves.
