You're talking in the present. Climatologists are looking at the future, and some factors are totally deterministic, such as the relationship between greenhouse gases and LWIR absorption, leading to increased temperature in the lower troposphere.

Of course if certain natural events were to happen - a large meteorite impacting or a large stratospheric volcano, that path would be interrupted.

If you're saying that things are not too bad right now, you'd probably be right.

It's like the Irishman falling off a building (so far, so good)
