Just a few minutes listening will teach our "progressives" the meaning of freedom in our western heritage and how not to fall in the trap of trying to shut down what you don't agree with by using disparaging labels.

Good find, bogarde73!!!

Arguments in defence of the virtue of freedom of speech.
Arguing that truth could be easily silenced, if a society chooses to empower, in law, those who claim to be 'offended', by the expression of views and opinions which they do not endorse.
And arguing that truth could be easily silenced, if we give credence, to those who argue that it should be unlawful for [themselves, to be exposed to] the public expression of views and opinions which they do not endorse...

Roger Scruton argues that the law on freedom of speech ought to protect those who express heretical views and not be used to close down debate.

Roger Scruton says we must feel free to express opinions and to make jokes that others may find offensive; censoring them them only leads to a loss of reasoned argument.

Scruton makes his case very clearly. It is refreshing to hear it spelled out so well.

The trouble is that the time for such discussion is over.

Its time for the non-Muslim world to kick a large amount of Muslim ass. And that should be just to get their attention before the real payback is delivered, which they deserve. The longer we put it off, the more obvious to them is our cowardice.

issuevoter,

If we had the collective will, Western nations could turn around this problem [with ISLAM/moslems], 180 degrees, in less than 6 months.

If we had the collective will,       ....to do what is right.

There is nothing that is wrong, that cannot be remedied, by doing what is right.
