If they are not decided then why announce them ?

'The government's proposed changes to the tax system will be put to the Australian '

They haven't announced anything, there are proposals. Some may become changes, some may drop by the wayside.

Yes Morrison has come out and made another non announcement ? Why do you think they bother to publish him saying nothing ? Making non announcements and such ?

the startling announcement that the 'changes to the tax system' (you mean they're already decided on, but we'll be fed them one at a time so we won't get too startled and won't get to see the full picture and will be easy meat?)

Or they haven't been decided on, but will be and then announced before the election.

nah ... they already have their policy sorted  ... this is just their way of testing the waters without actually announcing it. If it looks like the public will react badly, they'll say it was considered and discarded, if these 'non announcements' appear to have no repercussions, they'll see that as a green light to formerly proceed with the policy when they are ready.

I think, you may find that the REALITY is actually the other way around!

Richest 62 people as wealthy as half of world's population, says Oxfam

only higher wages, crackdown on tax dodging and higher investment in public services can stop divide widening.

The vast and growing gap between rich and poor has been laid bare in a new Oxfam report showing that the 62 richest billionaires own as much wealth as the poorer half of the world’s population.

Timed to coincide with this week’s gathering of many of the super-rich at the annual World Economic Forum in Davos, the report calls for urgent action to deal with a trend showing that 1% of people own more wealth than the other 99% combined.

Oxfam said that the wealth of the poorest 50% dropped by 41% between 2010 and 2015, despite an increase in the global population of 400m. In the same period, the wealth of the richest 62 people increased by $500bn (£350bn) to $1.76tn.

The charity said that, in 2010, the 388 richest people owned the same wealth as the poorest 50%. This dropped to 80 in 2014 before falling again in 2015.

============================================
Credit Suisse confirm similar trends!
http://fortune.com/2015/10/14/1-percent-global-wealth-credit-suisse/

The thing is WE are MORE INTERLOCKED, than any other time in history, But with current trends EVERYONE WILL LOSE & THERE WILL BE NO WINNERS!

We desperately need Balance, which means both Revenue & Expenditure are in need of movement!

But, to start with Big Business, Global Business & Religions MUST PAY THEIR FAIR SHARE, WHICH THEY CURRENTLY DON'T!

Excellent post.

'I also pointed out that they said politicians should take tax increases to an election. Do you disagree with that?'

And I said they lie.

Tax change is most often not reform.

Once again we see a Liberal coming out and making a statement which tells us nothing at all.

For example: a Keating GST is good and a Howard GST is not. A liberal tax cut is bad but a labor one is good.

IN summary: DNA is a hypocrite.

GST debate: Scott Morrison backs need for option to raise tax as part of reforms

Quote:
Scott Morrison has opened the political new year softening Australians up for an increase in the GST, arguing that reform needs to be on the table if voters want personal income tax relief and a cut to corporate tax to boost economic growth.

I'll just quote the first paragraph here, it sums it up pretty well.

Hockey and Morrison allowed bracket creep to increase the burden of taxation on individuals. Now Morrison is saying that to remove bracket creep, we have to increase the GST.

The agenda is pretty clear: they have been wanting to force an increase in the GST from the very beginning. Even before 2013 election campaign, Abbott let slip the possibility of an increase to the GST. Starving the states of funds was intended to force the states to ask for the increase, and they have not ever ruled out the possibility.

This government wants to transfer more of the burden of taxation from businesses onto individuals.

But Rudd and Gillard did not allow bracket creep?  Or keating and Hawke?  THe hypocrisy you show is astounding since you criticise the Howard tax cuts which largely dealt with... BRACKET CREEP.

Lee, I really don't understand how you can try to cover up by saying 'that was Abbott'. It was the coalition parties and Morriscum the grub was a senior minister in that coalition. They lied then , they are lying now.

I also pointed out that they said politicians should take tax increases to an election. Do you disagree with that?

Abbott ruled out increasing the GST.

Without an election. Which he and Turnbull did.

Gillard ruled out a Carbon Tax too.  Your hypocrisy is shameless.

She got caught up in semantics , she always said she was putting a price on carbon , it cost the consumer more so it was a tax , just like a medicare  co-payment is a tax and just like a debt levy is a tax and there is no disputing what any hike to the GST is , its a tax much larger than any CT.

The mining tax was designed to make a profit from the volume of ore extracted....Once it was removed mining companies increased production and drove down the commodity price....Abbott killed two birds with one stone!!!

From the day the Liberals took office they have been solidly working towards a GST increase.
